Alfred Morris, RB, San Francisco 49ers
Morris had 18 carries for 61 yards against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 5, and he also added three catches (on five targets) for 30 yards. Matt Breida entered the game with a knee issue, and came out of it with what is being classified as a “mid to high” left ankle sprain.
The 49ers have an extra day before playing the Green Bay Packers in Week 6 of Monday Night Football, but Breida has to be considered highly questionable for that game. Morris would then get the start against a Green Bay defense that has allowed multiple touchdowns to a running back in two of their last three games and at least 5.8 yards per carry to an individual back in those same two games.
If Morris is in line to get most of the work in Week 6, with Breida out or limited and Raheem Mostert not a real threat (five carries for 11 yards in Week 5), he’s on the RB2 radar in 12-team leagues. If Breida winds up missing multiple games, Morris has sustainable value going forward.
