LeGarrette Blount, RB, Detroit Lions

Blount reached a peak vulture point in Week 5, with 12 carries for 22 yards and two first quarter one-yard touchdown runs against the Green Bay Packers. Kerryon Johnson had 12 carries for 70 yards and two catches for 15 yards in the game, but he also suffered an ankle injury and was unable to finish.

The Lions have a bye in Week 6, so Johnson has time to get healthy. But if he can’t go or is limited in any way, Blount would get more work in a favorable matchup. The Miami Dolphins entered Week 5 allowing the fourth-most fantasy points to running backs (ESPN PPR scoring), and they’ve allowed at least one touchdown to the position in all five of their games thus far (four rushing, three receiving).

Johnson owners in deeper leagues can consider adding Blount as a preemptive measure this week. But he has great appeal as a stash for anyone that needs running back depth, if only for the possibility Week 5 was the launching point to a burst of touchdowns.
