The 2018 NFL season is four weeks old and it’s time to start picking up streaming defenses from your fantasy football waiver wire, they are wrong. Unless you own a top-5 defense, you are better off finding the best option each week from your fantasy football waiver wire. So, instead of letting your competition beat you to the punch, use your fantasy football waiver wire to find the team defense that is going to help you win your matchup.

Let’s get things started by taking a look at some fantasy football waiver wire team defenses that could help your team in Week 5.

Carolina Panthers, D/ST

A Week 4 bye made the Panthers’ defense droppable despite tallying eight sacks with six takeaways over the first three games and delivering double-digit fantasy points twice (Yahoo! scoring). But it’s time to quickly get back on board for Week 5 and beyond.

The New York Giants have struggled offensively, as any idea Eli Manning can be revived have faded. Week 4 was the shining example, as they scored just 18 points and could not exploit what had been a struggling New Orleans Saints defense. Failure to protect Manning (15 sacks allowed) and open holes for Saquon Barkley have had a domino effect.

Week 6 (Washington Redskins) and Week 7 (Philadelphia Eagles) don’t look daunting right now for Carolina’s defense, as they complete their cross-division run through the NFC East. Beyond that some middling matchups come, but the Panthers are a solid defensive unit.

The Panthers defense is a great streamer for Week 5, and virtually a set-it and forget unit until further notice. It should be added back in droves this week.
