Vance McDonald, TE, Pittsburgh Steelers

Since missing Week 1 with a foot injury, McDonald has been targeted five times in all three games with nine catches for 174 yards and a touchdown over the last two games. He has left Jesse James behind (two catches on two targets over the last two games) in the tight end pecking order for Pittsburgh.

The Atlanta Falcons don’t look like a great matchup in Week 5. But they have allowed at least four catches and/or a touchdown to the opposition’s No. 1 tight end in three of four games this season. Then McDonald get the Cincinnati Bengals, who entered Week 4 as a bottom-five defense against tight ends (ESPN PPR scoring), in Week 6.

McDonald defied a tough matchup against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 4, and he’s pushing into a significant role in a pass-happy Steelers’ offense. That’s TE1 potential, especially in a down year at the position overall, and he’s still widely available
