Joe Flacco, QB, Baltimore Ravens
Flacco went 28 of 43 for 363 yards with two touchdowns against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 4, and he now has multiple passing touchdowns in three of four games this season and over 360 yards through the air in two of the last three. Week 5 looked like it might be tough a few days ago, but it looks promising now.
The Cleveland Browns entered Week 4 allowing the second-fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks (ESPN scoring). Then Derek Carr lit them up for 437 yards and four touchdowns on Sunday and some of that new perception has gone out the window.
Flacco then gets a run of at least decent-looking matchups in Week 6 (Tennessee Titans), Week 7 (New Orleans Saints) and Carolina Panthers (Week 8), before a rematch with the Steelers in Week 9. Looking even further ahead, Flacco gets the Atlanta Falcons, Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 13-15. The Saints, Chiefs, Steelers, Falcons and Buccaneers came into Week 4 as the five most generous fantasy defenses to quarterbacks (ESPN scoring), and Flacco gets them all in an eight-week stretch.
Lamar Jackson’s presence has clearly lit a fire under Flacco. It’s time for fantasy owners to get on the bandwagon now, even if it’s only to add him immediately as a QB2 with an eye on a prolonged favorable stretch.
