The 2018 NFL season is just three weeks old and it’s time to start picking up streaming defenses from your fantasy football waiver wire, they are wrong. Unless you own a top-5 defense, you are better off finding the best option each week from your fantasy football waiver wire. So, instead of letting your competition beat you to the punch, use your fantasy football waiver wire to find the team defense that is going to help you win your matchup.
Let’s get things started by taking a look at some fantasy football waiver wire team defenses that could help your team in Week 4.
Los Angeles Chargers, D/ST
Ahead of a matchup with the Los Angeles Rams in Week 3, fantasy owners dropped the Chargers’ defense in droves. That wound up being well-founded, as they allowed 35 points and registered one fantasy point (Yahoo! scoring). But it’s time to quickly get back on board.
The San Francisco 49ers were not really lighting it up offensively with Jimmy Garoppolo available. But he suffered a torn left ACL in Week 3, and now C.J. Beathard will take over under center until further notice. Beathard played in seven games and started five as a rookie last year, and completed just under 55 percent of his passes with four touchdowns and six interceptions. He’s a marginal NFL backup, and he’ll probably never be anything more.
Facing a backup quarterback at home lines up very well for the Chargers’ defense, and matchups in Week 5-7 (Oakland Raiders, Cleveland Browns, Tennessee Titans) look favorable too. As a streaming defense for Week 4 there isn’t a better option, and the Chargers have some staying power beyond that as a top-tier fantasy defense.
