The 2018 NFL season is just two weeks old and while many might think it’s premature to start picking up people from their fantasy football waiver wire, they are wrong. Every year a no name blows up in Week 1 and ends up being a top-20 fantasy football player over the remainder of the season. So, instead of letting your competition beat you to the punch, use your fantasy football waiver wire to find the next big thing.
Let’s get things started by taking a look at some fantasy football waiver wire wide receivers for Week 3.
DeSean Jackson, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Peak form D-Jax has been back through two games this year, with nine receptions for 275 yards and three touchdowns (two from over 50 yards out). A concussion in Week 1 did not seem to hamper him in Week 2.
The Buccaneers are channeling “FitzMagic” right now, and Jackson has re-emerged after setting a career-low in yards per catch last year. What Ryan Fitzpatrick has done is not going to continue, but if he keeps the starting job he’s been able to connect with Jackson in a way Jameis Winston hasn’t shown he can.
Jackson can be a frustrating player to own in fantasy, with as much boom-or-bust as anyone we’ve seen in recent years. A one-catch, five-yard game is always lurking around the corner, but another roastable secondary is coming with the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 3 and Jackson is a viable WR/WR3 in standard scoring for a least one more week.
