The 2018 NFL season is just one week old and while many might think it’s premature to start picking up people from their fantasy football waiver wire, they are wrong. Every year a no name blows up in Week 1 and ends up being a top-20 fantasy football player over the remainder of the season. So, instead of letting your competition beat you to the punch, use your fantasy football waiver wire to find the next big thing.
Let’s get things started by taking a look at some fantasy football waiver wire wide receivers for Week 2.
Chris Godwin, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Godwin was the subject of ample preseason buzz, and even as “co-starter” DeSean Jackson went off in Week 1 the second-year man had three catches for 41 yards and a touchdown against the New Orleans Saints.
Jackson also suffered a concussion late in last Sunday’s game, so his status for Week 2 against the Philadelphia Eagles will be in doubt until further notice. If he misses that game, or any more games after that, Godwin would surely step into an every-down role opposite Mike Evans.
Even with him being put on a potential breakout season, Godwin went undrafted in more leagues than you might think. Now there’s a chance to add him in 12 and 14-team leagues, with the upside to be a weekly WR2/WR3 down the road.
