The 2018 NFL season is just one week old and while many might think it’s premature to start picking up people from their fantasy football waiver wire, they are wrong. Every year a no name blows up in Week 1 and ends up being a top-20 fantasy football player over the remainder of the season. So, instead of letting your competition beat you to the punch, use your fantasy football waiver wire to find the next big thing.
Let’s get things started by taking a look at some fantasy football waiver wire running backs for Week 2.
Matt Breida, RB, San Francisco 49ers
A prospective carry split for the 49ers in the absence of Jerick McKinnon came to fruition against the Vikings on Sunday, as Alfred Morris had 12 carries and Breida had 11.
But Breida had 46 yards on his 11 totes, along with one reception on two targets, while Morris put up 38 yards on his dozen. In time, that split may start to tilt toward Breida.
Breida is clearly the passing down back though, as he played most of the second half on Sunday when the 49ers were trailing. So he was the guy among San Francisco’s running backs to have in PPR leagues automatically after McKinnon’s injury, and his value in standard formats has a chance to climb.
Breida’s ownership rates toe the line to be included on this list. But if he is unowned in your league make sure to snag him on the fantasy football waiver wire.
