Dawson Knox, TE, Buffalo Bills
The Bills did not trade for Zach Ertz during the offseason, and Jacob Hollister was let go at final cuts. So the path was paved for Knox to be their TE1, and he caught all four of his targets against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 1 (for 41 yards).
Knox will always have a minority target share in Buffalo’s offense. But he had five touchdowns over his last nine games (including postseason) last year, and he should get prominent looks from Josh Allen in the red zone.
In Week 2 Knox will get the Miami Dolphins, who allowed a total of eight catches to New England Patriots‘ tight ends Jonnu Smith and Hunter Henry in Week 1. The Bills have no such viable second tight end.
Know won’t put up huge numbers. But with a clear role and a chunk of touchdowns within the realm of possibilities, he could be a TE1 by season’s end. Now is the time to get on board.
