Vernon Davis, TE, Washington Redskins
Davis had four catches for 31 yards, including a two-point conversion, against the New York Giants on Sunday. While that doesn’t sound exciting, Jordan Reed also left the game with a foot injury and there’s a chance he’ll miss the rest of the season based on a report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport on Monday.
Week 15 (Jacksonville Jaguars) and Week 16 (Tennessee Titans) are bad matchups, and having either Mark Sanchez or Josh Johnson under center is not ideal for any Redskins’ pass catcher. But in the 10 games Reed missed last year, Davis averaged 5.2 targets, 3.1 catches and 39.4 yards per game with at least 9.7 PPR fantasy points six times.
The dire state of the tight end position and Reed’s uncertain status easily puts Davis on the waiver wire list this week and he looks like a viable low-end TE1 right now.
