The 2018 NFL season is almost over and if you are still alive in your league it’s time start picking up people from your fantasy football waiver wire in hopes they can help you win your league title. Every year a no name blows up in Week 1 and ends up being a top-20 fantasy football player over the remainder of the season. So, instead of letting your competition beat you to the punch, use your fantasy football waiver wire to find the next big thing.
Let’s get things started by taking a look at some fantasy football waiver wire Tight Ends for Week 15.
Ian Thomas, TE, Carolina Panthers
Stepping in for the injured Greg Olsen (foot), Thomas had nine catches (on 11 targets) for 77 yards against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. He now has 14 catches on 16 targets over the last two games, with at least five targets in four of the last five games he has gotten a target. Olsen is out for the season, so Thomas’ role is not going away.
Two of Carolina’s final three games come against the New Orleans Saints, who entered Week 14 allowing the second-fewest fantasy points to tight ends (ESPN PPR scoring) with just one touchdown allowed to the position all season. But Buccaneers’ tight end Cameron Brate had two touchdowns against them on Sunday, so there’s a path for Thomas to produce.
Thomas remaining matchup is against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 16. They are a mid-pack defense against tight ends all the way around, but the overall vulnerability of their defense is notable.
In this tight end environment, despite a schedule that doesn’t scream fantasy schedule, Thomas is a legit TE1 from here on out.
