Elijah McGuire, RB, New York Jets
Isaiah Crowell did not last long on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills, as he left the game with a foot injury that’s possible related to the toe issue he was on the injury report. But McGuire finally got more opportunity, and finished 83 total yards (60 rushing) and a touchdown on 20 touches (three receptions).
The Jets have a bit of a short week, with a Saturday Week 15 date coming against the Houston Texans. So Crowell may not even play, and if he does he seems sure to be limited. The Texans are tough on running backs, with less than 40 rushing yards allowed to the position in three straight games now, but if McGuire gets at least 75-80 percent of the touches there’s some volume-based RB3/flex appeal.
If McGuire keeps a lead role, a slightly easier matchup is coming against the Green Bay Packers in Week 16. The Jets are hardly an offensive juggernaut, but as a running back with a pulse and a path to a big role McGuire is on the waiver wire radar looking toward Week 15.
