Jalen Richard, RB, Oakland Raiders

Doug Martin didn’t play in the second half of Week 11 against the Arizona Cardinals due to an ankle injury, which opened the door for Richard to expand his role. He finished with 11 carries for 61 yards, along with three catches for 32 yards. That catch total was a six-game low for him, and DeAndre Washington had 12 carries, but Richard’s status as the best Raiders’ fantasy back is clear.

Week 12 brings a very tough matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, and the Pittsburgh Steelers (Week 14) looks tough until you notice they’ve allowed a touchdown to a running back in five of their last six games. Other than that the Kansas City Chiefs (Week 13 and Week 17)) and Cincinnati Bengals (Week 15) are very favorable matchups, with a middle of the road matchup against the Denver Broncos in Week 16.

Richard has been a starting option in PPR leagues going back several weeks. If Martin misses time, he’s also a threat for double-digit carries to add to his yardage upside. Playing for the Raiders has kept his ownership rates down to a level you might not expect, but Richard is shaping up as a RB3/RB4 regardless of scoring format down the stretch.
