Ito Smith, RB, Atlanta Falcons
Tevin Coleman had 156 total yards and two receiving touchdowns against the Washington Redskins on Sunday, but Smith also contributed with 60 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries. If you leave out the disparity in passing game usage (seven targets to two), the rookie out of Southern Miss had just three fewer carries than Coleman.
Smith now has a touchdown in four of the last five games, with double-digit carries in two of the last three. Coleman had not been especially impressive entering Sunday, averaging 3.8 yards per carry, and if he goes back to that norm going forward a more even split of touches should come easily.
Smith has low-end RB2 upside in a favorable Week 10 matchup against the Cleveland Browns. But he has become a viable weekly flex play in 12 and 14-team leagues, with the potential for much more if Coleman were to ever be injured.
