DeAndre Washington, RB, Oakland Raiders
With Josh Jacobs (shoulder) out for the second time in three games, Washington was the Raiders’ lead back again in Week 16 against the Los Angeles Chargers and finished with 23 carries for 85 yards and a touchdown while adding two catches for 21 yards. Jacobs is sure to try to play in Week 17, as the Raiders still have playoff hopes, but there’s not much reason for him to try to.
The Denver Broncos entered Week 16 as a top-12 fantasy defense against running backs (Yahoo! 0.5-point PPR scoring), and that standing should improve after Sunday’s good showing against the Detroit Lions. But the volume Washington would get if Jacobs was out again keeps him on the radar.
There’s a speculative element to Washington, with Jacobs’ status at best unclear so early in the week. But for Week 17, there’s little reason not to speculate on what could be a rock-solid RB2 in all formats.
