Raheem Mostert, RB, San Francisco 49ers

A week after posting 146 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries against a tough Baltimore Ravens defense, Mostert had 109 total yards (69 rushing) on 12 touches (10 carries) with a rushing and receiving touchdown against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. Matt Breida was active for the the game, but and Tevin Coleman combined for nine carries and one reception as Mostert appears to have asserted himself as the lead back of the committee.

If only because throwing the ball against them has generally been so profitable, the Atlanta Falcons entered Week 14 in the top half of the league against running backs. Week 16 and Week 17 are similar matchups for the 49ers’ backs, as the Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks were around the top 10-12 of the league in fantasy points allowed to running backs going into Week 14.

It will be difficult to fully rely on any San Francisco running back over the rest of the season. But Mostert is on a positive and productive trend with no significant signs his role will be reduced, and that’s enough to buy into him as a must-add off the waiver wire and a viable flex option for at least Week 15.
