WEEK 8 PICK THEM UP: QB | RB | WR | TE | K | DEF
The eighth week of NFL games is in the books and the waiver wire is finally showing some fresh faces again. Several starting caliber waiver wire quarterbacks have emerged and the number of startable wide receivers on the waiver wire seems endless. Things are a little thin at running back ad tight end but given that there weren’t any major injuries this week that’s to be expected. As usual, a majority of the waiver wire adds we recommend this week are the same ones we recommended last week. Be sure to check your waivers for the “Carryovers from Last Week”. In a majority of cases those guys hold the most value. Stay tuned for the cut list we publish every week so you can get the scoop on which players to drop.
Quick Note: Not all players that had strong Week 8 outings are on this list, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they don’t have value. If you have any questions about free agents not discussed in this article, head over to the forums and we’ll help you with the answers. If you are wondering who to cut to pick these one of these players up, stay tuned for our Week 9 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Cut List.
TIGHT ENDS—PICK THEM UP
Logan Paulsen, TE, Washington Redskins
Logan Paulsen was supposed to be the backup in Washington. Even after Fred Davis was put on the injured reserve, many expected Paulsen to be behind the newly acquired Chris Cooley. That has not been the case. In two games, Paulsen has caught eight of 12 targets for 119 yards. Robert Griffin clearly enjoys his new safety blanket. Paulsen isn’t an every day starter but he could make for a solid spot play.
Paulsen faces a Carolina Panthers’ defense this week that is giving up nearly eight standard points per game to tight ends. Paulsen has played well in tough matchups his first two weeks as starter so there is no reason to believe he won’t play well this week. Paulsen is universally available so grab him if you get to the end of the week and still don’t have a tight end to start.
Consider Adding In: 12-team and 14-team Leagues; especially as a spot play
Carryovers from Last Week: Heath Miller (Pittsburgh Steelers), Jermaine Gresham (Cincinatti Bengals), Brandon Myers (Oakland Raiders), Martellus Bennett (New York Giants), Dustin Keller (New York Jets)
Tight End Watch List: Dwayne Allen (Indianapolis Colts), Anthony Fasano (Miami Dolphins) Tony Sheffler (Detroit Lions), Dallas Clark (Tampa Bay Buccaneers), Todd Heap (Arizona Cardinals)
