WEEK 8 PICK THEM UP: QB | RB | WR | TE | K | DEF
The seventh week of NFL games is over and the waiver wire as active as ever which is a good thing as we hit the middle of the bye weeks. This week in particular presents some quality waiver options at quarterback, running back and tight end. A majority of the waiver wire adds we recommend this week are the same ones we recommended last week which goes to show just how useful this article can be for getting the jump on potential adds. Be sure to check your waivers for the “Carryovers from Last Week” because in most cases those guys hold the most value.
Quick Note: Not all players that had strong Week 7 outings are on this list, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they don’t have value. If you have any questions about free agents not discussed in this article, head over to the forums and we’ll help you with the answers. If you are wondering who to cut to pick these one of these players up, stay tuned for our Week 8 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Cut List.
RUNNING BACKS—PICK THEM UP
Rashad Jennings, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars
When Maurice Jones-Drew went down with an ankle injury this week, the hard working Rashad Jennings was vaulted into fantasy relevancy. Jennings has always been a reliable backup but has only rarely seen anything more than a minor role in the Jacksonville Jaguars’ offense. That may change this week if MJD isn’t able to go. It’s a good idea to limit your expectations since Jennings yards per carry while starting is significantly less than his average as a backup. Much like this week, he’ll be good for around three yards per carry but will also be used often in the passing game and around the goal line.
The matchup this week against the Green Bay Packers isn’t ideal but it isn’t bad either. Jennings will be worth a low end RB2 or flex play this week if he starts and, depending on the severity of MJD’s injury, could hold value even beyond that. Jennings is more useful in PPR leagues but will be playable in most formats. He’s available in 77% of FleaFlicker leagues right now so don’t be afraid to add him.
Consider Adding In: 10-team, 12-team, and 14-team Leagues; especially as a spot play in PPR formats
