Philip Rivers (San Diego Chargers) @ Kansas City
Rivers has not been particularly good for much of this season, leading to some speculation he is playing through an injury. He had an especially poor effort against the New York Jets in Week 7, throwing for just 179 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions in the game. The Jets obviously have a tough pass defense, and things should be significantly easier this week against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs are coming off a strong effort in Week 7 against the Oakland Raiders as they intercepted quarterbacks Kyle Boller and Carson Palmer six times and allowed just 177 yards passing as well. Prior to that, they have allowed 12 passing touchdowns in their first five games though they did hold Rivers without a touchdown pass back in Week 3 while intercepting him twice. Chargers tight end Antonio Gates did not play in the previous game, but he returned to action last week and should make an impact this week. Fantasy football owners may be down on Rivers right now, but he is a solid bet to rebound this week as he should be plenty motivated by having something to prove.

POTENTIAL QB SLEEPER PICK OF THE WEEK
Christian Ponder (Minnesota Vikings) @ Carolina
Ponder had some good moments in his first NFL start last week against the Green Bay Packers, completing his first pass for 72 yards on his way to throwing for 219 yards and two touchdowns along with two interceptions. He also flashed some running ability with 31 yards on four attempts in the game, and now he will get his first road start against the Carolina Panthers in Week 8. The Panthers rank around the middle of pack defending opposing signal callers, but they have allowed over 300 passing yards three times thus far and have allowed a rushing score to an opposing quarterback in each of their last two games. Running back Adrian Peterson is clearly the main cog of the Vikings offense, but Ponder should be able to take advantage of the opportunities he does get and have a second straight productive game. He should be regarded as a solid QB2 for fantasy owners and well worth consideration in leagues where you can start two signal callers for this week.
