WEEK 7 PICK THEM UP: QB | RB | WR | TE | K | DEF
The sixth week of NFL games is over and the waiver wire is finally showing some fresh faces again at all the positions except for tight end. This week in particular presents a great opportunity to snag a long term starter at wide receiver. Bye week fill-ins at quarterback are numerous and as usual, more running backs got injured this week thereby vaulting their backups into fantasy football relevance. A majority of the waiver wire adds we recommend this week are the same ones we recommended last week which goes to show just how useful this article can be for getting the jump on potential adds. Be sure to check your waivers for the “Carryovers from Last Week” because in most cases those guys hold the most value. Stay tuned for the cut list we publish every week so you know who you can safely drop.
Quick Note: Not all players that had strong Week 6 outings are on this list, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they don’t have value. If you have any questions about free agents not discussed in this article, head over to the forums and we’ll help you with the answers. If you are wondering who to cut to pick these one of these players up, stay tuned for our Week 7 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Cut List.
RUNNING BACKS—PICK THEM UP
Daryl Richardson, RB, St. Louis Rams
The time for Daryl Richardson to take over for the aging Steven Jackson is not yet here, but it is near. This week the St. Louis Rams’ backfield was a committee and both backs delivered against a tough Miami Dolphins’ run defense. Richardson did the majority of the damage despite having fewer carries. He ended with 13 touches for 99 yards and even vultured a goal line carry (though was not able to convert). Jackson looked solid too with 15 touches for 80 yards. That said, Richardson was a full 1.6 yards per carry better than Jackson on the ground.
Richardson is worth a roster stash in most leagues. He’s just an injury away from having the starting gig in St. Louis. The Rams’ rushing schedule isn’t exactly encouraging but then again, the matchup against the Dolphins was pretty bad on paper too. Richardson is available in 86% of Fleaflicker leagues so don’t be afraid to grab him if you are desperate for running back depth.
