WEEK 6 PICK THEM UP: QB | RB | WR | TE | K | DEF
The fifth week of NFL action is over and the waiver wire is looking surprisingly dry yet again. Nevertheless, there is still some value out there for those that have the roster space. A majority of the waiver wire adds we recommend this week are the same ones we recommended last week which goes to show just how useful this article can be for getting the jump on potential adds. Be sure to check your waivers for the “Carryovers from Last Week” because in most cases those guys hold the most value. Stay tuned for the cut list we publish every week so you know who you can safely drop.
Quick Note: Not all players that had strong Week 5 outings are on this list, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they don’t have value. If you have any questions about free agents not discussed in this article, head over to the forums and we’ll help you with the answers. If you are wondering who to cut to pick these one of these players up, stay tuned for our Week 6Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Cut List.
QUARTERBACKS—PICK THEM UP
Christian Ponder, QB, Minnesota Vikings
By now you should have realized that the answer to your bye week problems is Christian Ponder. He has been in our waiver articles for almost the entire season. He performed admirably again against the terrible Tennessee Titans’ defense. Ponder went 25 of 35 for 258 yards and two touchdowns. He also had two interceptions but made up for it with 31 yards rushing. Ponder isn’t an every week type of quarterback but he has enough weapons on the team to be useful when he has a good matchup.
Next week the Minnesota Vikings face one of the worst defenses in the NFL, the Washington Redskins. The Redskins are getting shredded by opposing passers right now and that won’t change this week. Ponder has two more great spot play matchups coming up in Weeks 8 and 10 as well so he is worth a stash if you have the room. He’s available in 51% of FleaFlicker Leagues so don’t be afraid to add him if you need him
Consider Adding In: 12-team and 14-team Leagues; especially two-quarterback leagues or as a bye week fill-in

Kevin Kolb, QB, Arizona Cardinals
Kevin Kolb, like Christian Ponder, is another guy we have been recommending for multiple weeks. The big number to pay attention to with him is the number of passes he has attempted. With the Arizona Cardinals completely lacking a ground game, Kolb has thrown 98 passes the last two weeks! Not surprisingly he also has over 600 yards in those two games. This week, despite the Cardinals being held to three points, Kolb still managed to pass for 289 yards while being sacked eight times in the process. Kolb is going to get his chances and perform decently no matter how bad his team plays.
This week Kolb faces a horrendous Buffalo Bills’ defense that he’ll be able to light up. He should put up near elite numbers which isn’t bad for a guy you are using as a spot play! He’s available in 67% of FleaFlicker leagues. He’ makes a great backup and an even better spot play this week. Grab him now!
Consider Adding In: 10-team, 12-team and 14-team Leagues, particularly two-quarterback leagues or as a bye week fill-in
Carryovers from Last Week: Alex Smith (San Francisco 49ers)
Quarterbacks Watch List: Brandon Weeden (Cleveland Browns), Josh Freeman (Tampa Bay Buccaneers)
