WEEK 5 PICK THEM UP: QB | RB | WR | TE | K | DEF
The fourth week of NFL games is over and the waiver wire is looking surprisingly dry for the first time this season. Nevertheless, there is still some value out there for those that have the roster space. A majority of the fantasy football waiver wire adds we recommend this week are the same ones we recommended last week, which goes to show just how useful this article can be for getting the jump on potential adds.
Be sure to check out our “Carryovers from Last Week” section because in most cases those guys hold the most value.
Quick Note: Not all players that had strong Week 4 outings are on this list, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they don’t have value. If you have any questions about free agents not discussed in this article, head over to the forums and we’ll help you with the answers. If you are wondering who to cut to pick these one of these players up, stay tuned for our Week 5Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Cut List.
TIGHT ENDS—PICK THEM UP
Fred Davis, TE, Washington Redskins
Some Fred Davis owners dropped Davis a little prematurely. He’s now put together two solid games after his first two stinkers. He has 11 catches for 160 yards in his last two games and Robert Griffin III seems to look to him regularly as a safety valve.
Davis isn’t going to meet the preseason expectations put upon him but he will get some pretty reliable yardage totals from week to week. He has outstanding hands which allow him to catch almost anything near him. He’s more valuable in PPR leagues right now since the only Washington Redskin currently touching the ball in the red zone is RGIII. That could change. Davis is available in 28% of Fleaflicker leagues and should be owned in all of them.
Consider Adding In: 10-team, 12-team and 14-team Leagues; especially in PPR formats

Scott Chandler, TE, Buffalo Bills
Scott Chandler is finally starting to look ownable in fantasy leagues after being a week by week fluke last season. The number of targets he’s getting is remaining pretty steady and he is the Buffalo Bills main red zone target. He caught his third and fourth touchdown of the year this week and it appears there are plenty more for him in the cards. As always, he’s best rostered in TD-heavy leagues but he holds some value in standard leagues right now as well. He’s available in 59% of Fleaflicker leagues so don’t be afraid to grab him as a bye week fill-in. You can do worse than Scott Chandler.
Consider Adding In: 12-team and 14-team Leagues; especially in TD-heavy formats
Carryovers from Last Week: Greg Olsen (Carolina Panthers), Heath Miller (Pittsburgh Steelers)
Tight End Watch List: Ben Watson (Cleveland Browns), Jermaine Gresham (Cincinnati Bengals), Mercedes Lewis (Jacksonville Jaguars)
