WEEK 3 PICK THEM UP:  QB  |  RB  |  WR  |  TE  |  K  |  DEF

After the second week of games we are getting a better idea who the reliable fantasy football producers are going to be. A lot of them are still on the waiver wire. We hope you didn’t get hit by the injury bugs going around but in case you did, here’s a list of potential replacements that are available in at least 25% of Fleaflicker leagues. If you read up last week you will notice that some of these players were on last week’s list. Take this as an extra vote of confidence for those players. Without further ado, here are the week three most desirable waiver additions.

Quick Note: Not all players that had strong Week 2 outings are on this list, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they don’t have value. If you have any questions about free agents not discussed in this article, head over to the forums and we’ll help you with the answers. If you are wondering who to cut to pick these one of these players up, stay tuned for our Week 3 Waiver Wire Cut List.

RUNNING BACKS PICK THEM UP

Andre Brown, RB, New York Giants

After turning in one of the most unlikely performances of the year, Brown might just have won himself a game as starter. When Ahmad Bradshaw was forced to leave the game early with a neck injury, Wilson was thought to be next in line. As it turns out, after a red zone drop and last week’s fumble, Wilson has been relegated to the role of backups backup. After Bradshaw left, it was Brown and not Wilson who carried the load and he carried it pretty well. In the offseason Brown was set to serve a suspension for violating the substance abuse policy. Thus, several months later he is set is going into week three as the likely Giants starter.

Brown was involved in on the ground and through the air. He averaged five yards per carry on 13 carries and also grabbed two passes for 19 yards. He also managed a touchdown on the ground. In a week where many owners will be hurting at running back, you can do a lot worse than Brown. He has a nice matchup against the Panthers who have given up an average of 233 total yards per game to running backs so far this season. If you are a Bradshaw owner, you must grab Brown where possible. He’s universally available in all formats so get him while you can.

Pierre Thomas, RB, New Orleans Saints

This week Thomas continued his annual act of reminding fantasy owners of his days of yore. He busted out to a total of 143 yards on only 13 touches. Through two weeks he has 272 yards versus incumbent starter Mark Ingram’s pedestrian 68 yards despite having five less touches. Thomas has outplayed Ingram in both games and looks poised to get a larger workload. With Sproles being used as a dedicated receiver and return man this year, a chance is all Thomas needs. Given his performance so far, it’s likely he takes over the starting role in the near future.
He makes a potent roster stash in 12-plus team leagues but is also recommended in 10-team leagues. He’s available in 53% of Fleaflicker leagues at present but not for long. As mentioned above in Brown’s section, people are starting to get desperate for running backs right about now. Expect Thomas to be gone from waivers by next week. Grab him now if you need to add another potential long term solution at running back.
