Montell Owens, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars
There’s not much to say about Montell Owens other than that he is the only healthy back currently left on the Jacksonville Jaguars’ roster. If Rashad Jennings and/or Maurice Jones-Drew can’t suit up, Owens will get the start. Owens is mainly a special teamer and has little experience outside of that role. He finished Week 13 with seven carries for 29 yards and a catch for 11 yards. We know that he can catch the ball and will be at least a serviceable runner but beyond that there isn’t much data. In any case, as a potential starter, he’s a viable add this week.
Owens’ matchup this week against the New York Jets isn’t particularly good but there is some upside. The Jets have given up 418 yards and two touchdowns to opposing running backs in the last three weeks. In any case, Owens is only worth playing as a desperation option in deeper leagues. It’s unclear exactly what his workload will look like this week or who he will share it with but he’s universally available if you need him.
Consider Adding In: 12-team and 14-team Leagues
