WEEK 14 PICK THEM UP: QB | RB | WR | TE | K | DEF
Week 13 of the NFL season is in the books and the recent rash of injuries appears to have ended. A couple new options at quarterback have emerged in the past few weeks as well as a few running backs. The wide receiver and tight end options are mostly old faces but there is still value out there. As usual, a majority of the waiver wire adds we recommend this week are the same ones we recommended last week. Be sure to check your waivers for the “Carryovers from Last Week”. In a majority of cases those guys hold the most value. Stay tuned for the cut list we publish every week so you can get the scoop on which players to drop.
Quick Note: Not all players that had strong Week 13 outings are on this list, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they don’t have value. If you have any questions about free agents not discussed in this article, head over to the forums and we’ll help you with the answers. If you are wondering who to cut to pick these one of these players up, stay tuned for our Week 14 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Cut List.
RUNNING BACKS—PICK THEM UP
Jonathan Dwyer, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers
For once the Pittsburgh Steelers coaches were true to their word when they said they were going to use Jonathan Dwyer as the lead back. He finished Week 13 with 16 carries for 49 yards and a touchdown. He also caught three balls for eight yards. Isaac Redman received nine touches also but was largely uninvolved other than on third downs. Rashard Mendenhall was a healthy scratch.
Dwyer isn’t exactly going to tear things up with his running ability but he is a proven dual threat and he will get plenty of touches. When Ben Roethlisberger returns, Dwyer could be very useful for fantasy purposes. This week Dwyer has a nice matchup against San Diego Chargers’ defense that doesn’t give up many touchdowns but gives up plenty of yardage. They’ve given up 524 yards in the last three games. If Big Ben can play, the matchup will look even better. Dwyer makes an excellent spot play this week if you need him. He’s currently available in 49% of Fleaflicker leagues.
