WEEK 10 PICK THEM UP: QB | RB | WR | TE | K | DEF
The ninth week of NFL games is in the books and the waiver wire is finally showing some fresh faces again. It’s a big week for waiver wire running backs yet again with new or lingering injuries to several starters. The wide receiver pool is as deep as ever so take advantage if you have any dead weight. As usual, a majority of the waiver wire adds we recommend this week are the same ones we recommended last week. Be sure to check your waivers for the “Carryovers from Last Week”. In a majority of cases those guys hold the most value. Stay tuned for the cut list we publish every week so you can get the scoop on which players to drop.
Quick Note: Not all players that had strong Week 9 outings are on this list, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they don’t have value. If you have any questions about free agents not discussed in this article, head over to the forums and we’ll help you with the answers. If you are wondering who to cut to pick these one of these players up, stay tuned for our Week 10 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Cut List.
RUNNING BACKS—PICK THEM UP
Marcel Reece / Taiwan Jones / Mike Goodson, RB, Oakland Raiders
As of right now we know that Darren McFadden is likely to be out at least a couple of weeks with the high ankle sprain he suffered in Week 9. The default backup, Mike Goodson, also went down with an ankle injury leaving the backfield completely up in the air. Fullback Marcel Reece is the obvious choice. He’s played as the team’s change of pace back the entire year and he is excellent out of the backfield.
Reece didn’t receive a carry but he had eight receptions for 95 yards and a touchdown on the day. Taiwan Jones is the next option but he had his first touches of the entire year this week. The likely bet is a sort of committee.
Though the Oakland Raiders’ backfield is confusing right now, the rushing matchups down the stretch are too good to ignore the situation. Baltimore, New Orleans, Cincinnati and Cleveland are all giving up tons of points to opposing running backs and present juicy matchups for the Raider backfield. Watch the news closely to figure out which player is most likely to start. Our money is on Goodson depending on how severe his injury is, then Reece, then Jones. Roll the dice as you may. They are all almost universally available.
