Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak confirmed Monday that quarterback T.J. Yates is on track to start next weekend's wild card matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Yates suffered a separated left shoulder in Sunday's game against the AFC South rival Tennessee Titans. Kubiak said Yates was “throwing well” on Monday and would be tabbed to play Saturday against the Bengals barring a setback.Yates was hurt after he was sacked during the first quarter. He did not return to the game. Veteran Jake Delhomme replaced Yates and went the rest of the way in Houston's 23-22 defeat - the team's third straight loss.

The Texans have already lost quarterbacks Matt Schaub and Matt Leinart to season-ending injuries.
