Brett Favre to the rescue in Houston? For once the answer is a definitive no.
After losing his second quarterback in as many games to a season-ending injury, Texans general manager Rick Smith said he would not be placing a call to Favre.
"I; don't want to bring the circus to town," Smith told Peter King on NBC's Football Night in America.
The Texans lost Matt Leinart to a fractured collarbone in Sunday's 20-13 win at Jacksonville.
Leinart was making his first start in two years in place of Matt Schaub, who suffered a season-ending foot injury in Houston's previous game.
That leaves the Texans with rookie T.J. Yates as the starter and Kellen Clemens - signed off the street this week - as a backup.
Even if Smith were tempted to try to lure Favre out of retirement for a third time, the three-time NFL MVP doused the notion, texting King that he wasn't interested in returning and hasn't thrown a football in a month.
