Minnesota Vikings
1st Half SoS | Remaining SoS | (+/-)
QB – 13.4 (6th) | 14.7 (15th) | 1.3
WR – 12.6 (6th) | 14.8 (12th) | 2.2
RB – 18.4 (26th) | 15.7 (14th) | -2.7
Favre and his WRs have benefited from a favorable schedule so far but based on their upcoming schedule and promising lead on the division they could be in line for a drop in production. However, Peterson has shined despite facing some tough run defenses. Look for a sizeable increase in his numbers. It is very possible that the AP owner’s roster is hurting in other areas so trading for him is not out of the question.
Trade – QB Favre
Target – RB Peterson
Be Patient With – WR Rice, WR Berrian, WR Harvin
Take a Chance On – TE Shiancoe
New England Patriots
1st Half SoS | Remaining SoS | (+/-)
QB – 17.1 (20th) | 20.3 (26th) | 3.2
WR – 17.3 (21st) | 21.3 (27th) | 4
RB – 16.9 (22nd) | 14.3 (19th) | -2.6
Brady and his WRs will see an increase in schedule difficulty as the season progresses. However, Brady, Moss, and Welker will continue to produce and if you can get them in a trade go for it. The RBs will face an easier schedule but it’s hard to key in on one guy in a revolving door backfield. Maroney has done well but it’s difficult to see how things will play out once Morris and Taylor return from injury. The Patriots will probably look to the run game a little more as they face some tougher pass defenses but their true value comes from Brady and the receivers..
Be Patient With – QB Brady, WR Moss, WR Welker
Take a Chance On – RB Maroney
New Orleans Saints
1st Half SoS | Remaining SoS | (+/-)
QB – 17.1 (22nd) | 13.8 (11th) | -3.3
WR – 22.6 (29th) | 14.8 (11th) | -7.8
RB – 15.7 (16th) | 17.7 (22nd) | 2
Despite a reasonably tough schedule, Brees still ranks 2nd in points per game at the QB position. Look for those numbers along with the numbers of his WRs to increase. Aside from Colston, though, it’s hard to say how fantasy football relevant the WRs will be. It seems like a different guy is in the spotlight every week. Henderson probably has the most value since he starts. Shockey is also emerging big time. He could be targeted if you are loaded at WR and RB. The schedule gets tougher for the RBs but look for Thomas to continue to produce as an RB2. Reggie Bush still has value in PPR leagues and has been getting the red zone carries but is a tough guy to predict.
Target – TE Shockey
Be Patient With – RB Thomas, RB Bell
Take a Chance On – WR Henderson, WR Meachem, WR Moore
New York Giants
1st Half SoS | Remaining SoS | (+/-)
QB – 15.9 (11th) | 20.5 (27th) | 4.6
WR – 13.1 (8th) | 21.7 (30th) | 8.6
RB – 15.5 (13th) | 21.5 (29th) | 6
Moving forward there is an increase in schedule difficulty across the board for all Giants players. The increase schedule strength for the WRs and RBs ranks towards the top so keep expectations low for those players. It’s going to be tough to trade Jacobs or Bradshaw after they couldn’t get it going at home against a pretty bad San Diego rushing defense and have been hit or miss thus far. This would be a great time to sell high on Steve Smith. The fantasy future is dark for this team and the Giants will need to hope their defense steps up if they are going to compete for a playoff spot.
Trade – QB Manning, WR Smith, WR Manningham, RB Jacobs, RB Bradshaw
New York Jets
1st Half SoS | Remaining SoS | (+/-)
QB – 17.3 (23rd) | 20.3 (25th) | 3
WR – 19.3 (26th) | 21.7 (28th) | 2.4
RB – 15.5 (14th) | 13.3 (5th) | -2.2
Keep expectations low for Sanchez, Cotchery, and Edwards. The WRs could still be viable as WR3s but the schedule is far from encouraging moving forward. The big story here is a more favorable schedule for Jones and Greene. Jones is 9th in points per game and should easily finish in the top 10. Greene could make a nice flex play but until you know his workload it will be tough use him. However, down the stretch he should have some nice fantasy value.
Target – RB Jones
Be Patient With – WR Cotchery, WR Edwards, TE Keller
Take a Chance On – RB Greene
Oakland Raiders
1st Half SoS | Remaining SoS | (+/-)
QB – 22.8 (30th) | 18.2 (21st) | -4.6
WR – 24.3 (31st) | 16.3 (17th) | -8
RB – 14.4 (8th) | 23 (31st) | 8.6
Just looking at the match-ups, it’s easy to see why Fargas, with Daren McFadden injured, was the only fantasy relevant Raider in the first half. Don’t expect anything of the sort the rest of the way. While Russell still won’t have any fantasy football relevance, Miller could see an increase in points if they can get him the ball. Not sure it worth owning anyone else from this team but monitor WR Chaz Schilens when he returns from injury. He could be a spot start in week 16 against Cleveland.
Be Patient With – TE Miller
Take a Chance On – WR Schilens
Philadelphia Eagles
1st Half SoS | Remaining SoS | (+/-)
QB – 18.4 (24th) | 19.8 (23rd) | 1.4
WR – 16.4 (15th) | 18.8 (22nd) | 2.4
RB – 12.1 (2nd) | 20.7 (28th) | 8.6
Here is another increase in schedule difficulty across the board. The thing that really sticks out is that the RBs faced the 2nd easiest schedule in the seasons first half yet Westbrook and McCoy have not done anything of note. Also, look for the numbers to level off for McNabb, D.Jackson, and Maclin. Celek should still perform as a top 10 TE because his red zone ability is hard to argue against.
Trade – RB Westbrook
Be Patient With – WR Jackson, WR Maclin, RB McCoy, TE Celek
Pittsburgh Steelers
1st Half SoS | Remaining SoS | (+/-)
QB – 9.6 (2nd) | 14.2 (12th) | 4.6
WR – 13.1 (7th) | 12 (7th) | -1.1
RB – 14.3 (7th) | 15.5 (12th) | 1.2
Roethlisberger has made the most of a favorable schedule and ranks 5th amongst quarterbacks in points per game. With the Steelers committed to winning with Big Ben look for that to continue despite an increase in difficulty. Ward, Miller, Holmes, and Wallace will continue to score points and should be owned in that order. Mendenhall will continue to produce but be mindful of his playoff matchups because they aren’t all that easy. He faces Green Bay and Baltimore in Weeks 15 and 16 respectively. Make sure you have depth at RB if you’re a Mendenhall owner.
Target – WR Ward, WR Holmes, TE Miller
Be Patient With – RB Mendenhall
Take a Chance On – WR Wallace
San Diego Chargers
1st Half SoS | Remaining SoS | (+/-)
QB – 17 (17th) | 10.8 (2nd) | -6.2
WR – 17.6 (22nd) | 10.3 (2nd) | -7.3
RB – 17.7 (23rd) | 16.3 (17th) | -1.4
Things are about to get very favorable for an already productive San Diego team. Based on match-ups alone Rivers should hover around top 5 production and V.JaxJackson and Gates should easily finish in the top 5 at their respective positions. A lackluster schedule should make LT a low-end RB2 or high-end flex going forward. With Malcolm Floyd taking over the starting role in San Diego he is worth a look in deeper leagues.
Target – QB Rivers, WR Jackson, TE Gates
Be Patient With – RB Sproles
Take a Chance On – WR Floyd
San Francisco 49ers
1st Half SoS | Remaining SoS | (+/-)
QB – 16.3 (12th) | 13 (7th) | -3.3
WR – 15.9 (12th) | 10.7 (3rd) | -5.2
RB – 16.6 (20th) | 16.5 (18th) | -0.1
Even after a less than desirable showing against Chicago Alex Smith is definitely worth a look in deeper leagues and certainly in leagues that start two QBs. He’s made TE Davis the #1 TE in fantasy football and also has Morgan, Crabtree, and Hill to catch the football. He built a rapport with Hill on the practice squad and this is situation that should be closely monitored. Gore will continue to produce no matter what the match-up is. Hopefully you didn’t panic when he was injured or took advantage of someone that was.
Target – RB Gore
Take a Chance On – QB Smith, WR Crabtree, WR Hill
Seattle Seahawks
1st Half SoS | Remaining SoS | (+/-)
QB – 14 (8th) | 12.2 (4th) | -1.8
WR – 12.3 (4th) | 13.7 (9th) | 1.4
RB – 14.6 (9th) 16.8 (20th) 2.2
It’s hard to get a read on the Seattle Seahawks. Hasselbeck should see a nice increase in production as the Seahawks face a pretty favorable schedule in the second half of the season. Burleson should remain a solid WR2 and Houshmandzadeh should be a suitable WR or WR3 with upside. Carlson is heavily targeted but just isn’t getting it done and hasn’t scored a touchdown since the first week of the season.
Target – QB Hasselbeck
Be Patient With – WR Burleson, WR Houshmandzadeh
St Louis Rams
1st Half SoS | Remaining SoS | (+/-)
QB – 15.6 (10th) | 14.3 (14th) | -1.3
WR – 12.5 (5th) | 10.2 (1st) | -2.3
RB – 19.9 (29th) | 14.3 (10th) | -5.6
The Rams see a favorable increase at all positions. It’s astonishing that S. Jackson faced the 4th toughest schedule for RBs in the seasons first half yet still ranks 13th in fantasy football points per game. Looking at his schedule moving forward he should have no problem finishing in the top 10 but could flirt with top 5 if St Louis can get some consistency in the passing game. Donnie Avery should continue to produce and could be targeted as a low-end WR3 with upside in deeper leagues. The Rams’ biggest problems lie at the QB position, though.
Target – WR Avery
Be Patient With – WR Avery, RB Jackson
Take a Chance On – WR Avery
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
1st Half SoS | Remaining SoS | (+/-)
QB – 22.9 (31st) | 22.5 (31st) | -0.4
WR – 24.1 (30th) | 17.3 (19th) | 6.8
RB – 16.3 (17th) | 16.7 (19th) | 0.4
As a whole, Tampa Bay faced a pretty tough schedule to start the year. They had a big win at home coming off a bye against the Green Bay Packers so it’s still too early to tell what is in store for the second half. of the season They still face a pretty unfavorable schedule but with a rookie quarterback that leans on him tight end Kellen Winslow continues to shine and should finish as a top 10 TE.
Target – TE Winslow
Be Patient With – RB Williams
Take a Chance On – RB Ward
Tennessee Titans
1st Half SoS | Remaining SoS | (+/-)
QB – 20.4 (28th) | 18.3 (22nd) | -2.1
WR – 18 (23rd) | 20.8 (24th) | 2.8
RB – 18.7 (27th) | 13.8 (8th) | -4.9
Looking at the schedule, it’s easy to see why Chris Johnson was the only reliable fantasy football player for the Titans in the first half of the season. He, like Steven Jackson, faced a tough schedule but is the No. 2 RB in fantasy. You could possibly target Johnson if his owner has needs at another position, but it will be tough. Johnson is set to explode with a favorable schedule and a new QB. The only way you should own Vince Young is in a two QB league. Outside of Johnson there isn’t much to like in Tennessee.
Target – RB Johnson
Take a Chance On – TE Scaife
Washington Redskins
1st Half SoS | Remaining SoS | (+/-)
QB – 11.9 (4th) | 18.2 (20th) | 6.3
WR – 16.3 (13th) | 16.2 (16th) | -0.1
RB – 9.7 (1st) | 14.7 (11th) | 5
The Redskins had one of the easiest schedules in the first half but barely did anything with it. In fact, they have yet to score 20 or more points in a single game this season. Now, with injuries to Portis and Cooley, the future is looking considerably dark. The only players possibly worth owning are Portis and Moss. It is unknown how long Portis will be out so make sure if you buy him, you buy low.
Be Patient With – WR Moss, RB Portis
