The St. Louis Rams have called a Tuesday afternoon news conference where they're expected to introduce Jeff Fisher as their new head coach.

Fisher reached agreement to become the head coach of the Rams last week. The 53-year-old Fisher reportedly had been weighing offers from St.Louis and the Miami Dolphins, who were unhappy to learn of the decision.

“I'm really excited that the Rams are the best fit for me,” Fisher told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch at the time of the hiring. “I hope I'm the best fit for the Rams, and am looking forward to finalizing the (contract) details and coming to work.”

Fisher reportedly agreed to a five-year deal with the Rams, and is expected to sign the contract Tuesday.

Fisher parted ways with the Tennessee Titans in January 2011 after spending 16-plus seasons with the franchise.

Tennessee went to the postseason six times, including the Super Bowl following the 1999 season, under Fisher.

The Rams were seeking a replacement for Steve Spagnuolo, who was fired after a dismal 2-14 season. Spagnuolo went 10-38 in three seasons with St. Louis.

The hottest coaching commodity on the market, Fisher's wish list reportedly included a team with a franchise quarterback and the ability to have a say in personnel matters.

The Rams also fired general manager Billy Devaney after the season and are expected to bring in a GM with ties to Fisher.

St. Louis drafted quarterback Sam Bradford with the No. 1 overall pick in 2011, but he labored through an injury-riddled season that caused him to miss six games.

The Rams have the No. 2 overall pick in the upcoming draft after tying Indianapolis for the worst record in the league.

Tennessee went 142-120 under Fisher, including a 14-18 mark in his final two seasons.
