Hello Bruno Boys Nation!

Missed you last week! Blame it on the holiday madness. So, I’ll catch everyone up on the past TWO weeks.

Week 13 Monday Morning Quarterbacking & Backpatting:

In week 13 I suffered pretty much across the board. I had losses in all of my leagues except for my camp league, in which I was already in 1st place and had clinched a playoff spot anyway…I pretty much kissed the playoffs good-bye for this year in all but one other league with those losses. Always choking when it counts, aren’t I? I did get 11 right in my pick ‘em leagues, so it wasn’t a total hex on my luck that week.

I should have played Darren Sproles over LeSean McCoy in one league and Marion Barber in another, but who knew the diminutive back would rack up a solid 13 points.

I, also, mixed up my Matts as I should have played Hasselbeck over Schaub, a move that would have netted me six fantasy points.

I certainly should have played San Francisco’s D/ST over Minnesota’s D/ST as Kurt Warner and the Arizona Cardinals came out firing on all cylinders against the Vikings, (and incidentally were no contest for the 49ers the next week).

One of our League Home Sauce east coasters was out west with us in LA, so a bunch of us got together for the game, then I left in the evening to catch the Lakers host (and smoke) the Suns with another League Home Saucer.

For Monday Night Football, a bunch of the girls got together to check out the swanky new Hollywood sports bar, Capitol City on Cahuenga. Big communal tables, Moscow Mules in copper cups, and bar food resulted in a crazy girls night including repeatedly doing the limbo underneath the big screen in order to get to the bathroom.

Then, I was off to NYC and had my annual Latke party in the city. I made four different kinds: carrot/zucchini, goat cheese, triple onion, and mushroom. They were all a hit, as was the homemade apple sauce, (so easy!).

Week 14 Monday Morning Quarterbacking & Backpatting:

In Week 14, I fared a little better, as I got the win in the one league where it still mattered and made it into the playoffs. (So now I’m in two - 1st place in the camp league and 4th place in the Sportsjudge league.)

And for some reason, the meaningless wins (leagues where even if I won I still wouldn’t make the playoffs, or prevent my opponent from making it) were still rewarding.

By the way, it’s official - I’m a Beanie Wells fan. BEANIE!!

While Beanie is on my nice list, I’m thoroughly annoyed with Kevin Walter, who’s on the naughty list. Really, just one double digit outing on the year?

I think it is noteworthy when Kyle Orton is a better play than Tommy Brady.

Solid outings from Donovan McNabb, Andre Johnson, and Ricky Wiliams (my golden waiver wire move of the year) were all appreciated.

Football Sunday in NYC this week was spent at the lovely and talented, Karina Mackenzie’s, annual Gingerbread Party. Football, Grandma’s gingerbread recipe, the miraculous creme of tartar cementing frosting, and an onslaught of creativity. My partner, Regan Marscher, and I made a snow hill theme design entitled “Going Down at Sugar Mountain.”

I was supposed to go to the Giants game with a girlfriend from college (and a huge Giants’ fan), but the rain made us chicken out and seek shelter in a west side bar. Eli had a huge day, but couldn’t pull the win out against the Eagles.

On Monday I met up with some of the ladies in the new gg2ff league which was nice to give them an opportunity to hang with the commish during a game.

Good-Luck to everyone in the playoffs this week!

Touchback with you next week!
