46. Earl Bennett (Chicago Bears) vs. Arizona
Bennett was targeted just three times and came away with only two receptions for 29 yards in last week’s win over the Cleveland Browns. That was mostly the product of not needing to throw and getting a big lead over Cleveland, so expect more offense out of Bennett this week against the visiting Cardinals.
Point Projection: 6 points
47. Andre Caldwell (Cincinnati Bengals) vs. Baltimore
In Cincinnati’s 45-10 win over the Chicago Bears in the week before their bye, Caldwell had his least productive day since Week 2, as he caught just two passes for 19 yards. He’ll ramp it back up this week to some extent against a Baltimore team that, while solid last week, is still just 19th in the league against the pass.
Point Projection: 6 points
48. Mike Wallace (Pittsburgh Steelers) @ Denver
Wallace has become a serious threat for the Steelers on a weekly basis, and in fact, over his last three games, has not scored fewer than seven fantasy football points (standard scoring) in any of them. We don’t expect he’ll get quite that many points this week, not against a Denver pass defense that is eighth in the league.
Point Projection: 6 points
49. Mike Thomas (Jacksonville Jaguars) vs. Kansas City
The diminutive Thomas had four catches for 55 yards in his last contest, a loss to the Titans. It was the second consecutive game that the rookie from Arizona had at least 50 receiving yards, and this week, against a pass defense that is nearly as bad as the Tennessee Titans, Thomas could make that three weeks in a row with 50 or more receiving yards.
Point Projection: 5 points
50. Pierre Garcon (Indianapolis Colts) vs. Houston
Garcon was targeted seven times and had a season-high four catches in the Colts’ win over the San Francisco 49ers last week. He accumulated 53 yards with those receptions, which was the third-highest total of the season for him. It would be nice to see him find the end zone once in a while – he hasn’t made a trip past the goal line since Week 3 – but with so many offensive weapons, there’s no reason to expect Garcon to do so.
Point Projection: 5 points
51. Deion Branch (Seattle Seahawks) vs. Detroit
Branch caught his first touchdown of the season last week in Seattle’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Still, he caught just three passes for less than 40 yards in the game, and he’s clearly the third option in the Seahawks’ passing game. Only an excellent match-up against the Lions saves him from a lower ranking this week.
Point Projection: 5 points
52. Antwaan Randle El (Washington Redskins) @ Atlanta
Randle El’s five catches in the Redskins’ previous game, a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, were his second-highest total of the season, and highest since Week 1. He only gained 39 yards on those catches, but expect him to do a bit more this week against the Falcons. Atlanta brings a downright bad pass defense to the table, one that ranks 30th in the NFL.
Point Projection: 5 points
53. Kenny Britt (Tennessee Titans) @ San Francisco
Britt was targeted just once last week by Tennessee quarterback Vince Young, and he caught that pass, but for only seven yards. That catch was Britt’s only one in the last two weeks, as the rookie is struggling a bit. But nothing will cure that quite like a pass defense that is missing their top cornerback and that is better than just three other teams in the league.
Point Projection: 5 points
54. Josh Morgan (San Francisco 49ers) vs. Tennessee
After two games of at least 60 receiving yards, Morgan was on the other end of just one pass last week, and gained a miniscule three yards. Expect more out of him this week, however, as he and his 49ers teammates go up against the worst pass defense the NFL has to offer.
Point Projection: 4 points
55. Michael Jenkins (Atlanta Falcons) vs. Washington
Jenkins remains the third wheel among the Falcons pass catching triumvirate of himself, Roddy White and Tony Gonzalez. He has yet to score a touchdown this season, and that shouldn’t be expected to chance this week against the top-flight pass defense that the Redskins possess.
Point Projection: 4 points
56. Robert Meachem (New Orleans Saints) vs. Carolina
Meachem only saw two targets last week in the Saints’ Monday night win over the Atlanta Falcons, but he did the most with them, as the former first-round pick caught two passes for 47 yards. This week, he and his teammates face the top-rated pass defense in the league, though it should be noted that Meachem did have a touchdown reception against the squad last season.
Point Projection: 4 points
57. Bobby Wade (Kansas City Chiefs) @ Jacksonville
Wade had his second-best game of the season in Kansas City’s previous game, a loss to the Chargers before their bye, as he hauled in four passes for 66 yards. That should give some reason for optimism, but expecting too much from any KC receiver outside of Dwayne Bowe is unwise.
Point Projection: 4 points
58. Bryant Johnson (Detroit Lions) @ Seattle
Johnson was plain awful last week for the Lions in their loss to the St. Louis Rams, catching just two passes for 43 yards but dropping many more than that. He has a solid match-up against an average Seattle pass defense, but asking for anything more than what he has been doing this season is asking far too much.
Point Projection: 4 points
59. Patrick Crayton (Dallas Cowboys) @ Philadelphia
Crayton was actually second in receiving yards last week in Dallas’ win over the Seahawks, yet he only came away with 39 yards on three catches. The Eagles are 10th in the NFL in pass defense, and figure to be a tough match-up for Tony Romo and the rest of the Dallas offense, leaving Crayton in a position to contribute little.
Point Projection: 4 points
60. James Jones (Green Bay Packers) @ Tampa Bay
Jones’s stat line in Green Bay’s contest against the Minnesota Vikings last week should come as no surprise to anyone that has been paying attention: one catch, 42 yards. Jones is averaging nearly 23 yards per reception this season, and though he hasn’t caught more than two passes in a game, you can count on one of them being for a solid yards.
Point Projection: 3 points
61. Eddie Royal (Denver Broncos) vs. Pittsburgh
We all wanted to believe. After Royal caught 10 passes for 90 yards in Week 5, the proof that he was still a solid fantasy football option was right in front of us. Then, the last two games happened. Combined, Royal caught two passes for 10 yards in those games, with all of his production coming last week. It’s getting more difficult to believe in Royal by the week.
Point Projection: 3 points
62. Jacoby Jones (Houston Texans) @ Indianapolis
Jones did last week what you might have come to expect from him – make a couple big plays, but nothing else. He had one catch for 36 yards and one run for 17 yards; that’s two touches for 53 yards, and that’s not a bad average. Maybe he’ll get a few more looks with Owen Daniels on the shelf.
Point Projection: 3 points
63. Muhsin Muhammad (Carolina Panthers) @ New Orleans
Muhammad did not play last week in the Panthers stomping of the Arizona Cardinals, and there’s no telling if he’ll be available this week, so check his status before inserting him into your lineup. That is, if you want to play a guy with no touchdowns on the season and who gets just 20-50 yards per game.
Point Projection: 3 points
64. Laveranues Coles (Cincinnati Bengals) vs. Baltimore
Coles has produced in his last two games after starting the season off doing virtually nothing. He caught two passes for just 37 yards in the Bengals’ last game, but he also found pay dirt, and scored a touchdown for the second consecutive week. Still, he’s caught more than two passes in a game just twice this season, and isn’t a consistent threat.
Point Projection: 3 points
65. Mark Bradley (Kansas City Chiefs) @ Jacksonville
Bradley failed to catch a single pass in the Chiefs’ last game, a loss to San Diego that took place before their bye last week. Yet this week he and his squad go up against a much worse pass defense in the form of the Jaguars, who are 26th in the league in that category, and have allowed more passing scores than all but three teams.
Point Projection: 3 points
66. David Anderson (Houston Texans) @ Indianapolis
Anderson tied a season-high last week with three catches, but set a season-high with 53 receiving yards in Houston’s win over the Buffalo Bills. Anderson has been steady this year, catching at least one pass in every game this season, but never more than three. There’s no reason to think that trend will be broken against Indianapolis this week.
Point Projection: 2 points
67. Sammie Stroughter (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) vs. Green Bay
Stroughter has been somewhat productive of late, meaning in his last games. In those contests, he has caught three passes in each, for 65 and 63 receiving yards, respectively. Green Bay has a solid pass defense, though, and with a rookie, Josh Freeman, who had accuracy issues in college, getting the start this week, there’s no telling how effective Stroughter can really be.
Point Projection: 2 points
68. Ted Ginn Jr. (Miami Dolphins) @ New England
Ginn lost his starting spot last week, but he went on to score two touchdowns in Miami’s win over the New York Jets, so the nightmare that has been his season is over, right? Well, no, at least not from the wide receiver point of view, because those two scores came on kickoff returns. That’s great for him, but not so good for his fantasy owners, if there are any. Ginn failed to catch a single pass in the contest, and only once this season has he accumulated more than two receptions in a game, and in his last five games he has just five total catches.
Point Projection: 2 points
69. Lance Moore (New Orleans Saints) vs. Carolina
Moore had just two catches for 11 yards last week in the Saints’ win over the Falcons, and we just don’t see things going too much better this week against Carolina, a squad that sports the best pass defense in the National Football League.
Point Projection: 2 points
70. Davone Bess (Miami Dolphins) @ New England
Bess tied tight end Anthony Fasano for most targets in the Dolphins’ win over the Jets last week with five, and he led the team with four catches. Unfortunately, those catches resulted in a net gain of 18 yards. Bess is the prototypical slot receiver, and one that is usually averse to big games, especially against the No. 5 pass defense in the NFL.
