13. Joe Flacco (Baltimore Ravens) vs. Denver

Whether it’s been against good defenses or bad ones, Baltimore Ravens’ quarterback Joe Flacco has flourished this season. In fact, the only team to hold him to less than 10 fantasy football points was the Bengals in week five. Other than that, Flacco has been quite good; however, he is faced with his toughest challenge yet this season as the Ravens take on the undefeated Denver Broncos this week. We expect Flacco to get a fair amount of points, but against a defense that’s No. 1 in the league in points allowed, you shouldn’t expect much more.
Point Projection: 14 Points

14. Kyle Orton (Denver Broncos) @ Baltimore

Perhaps one of the biggest surprises this season has not only been the Broncos, but also their quarterback Kyle Orton. Orton has put up double-digit fantasy football performances in every game he’s played in. There’s no reason to think he’ll do otherwise this week when Denver travels to Baltimore, which has just one interception in its past three games. The one thing going against Orton and the Broncos is that this is one of the early games, and teams from the West have not had a ton of success when they play early games on the East Coast. Still, Orton looks like an OK play this week.
Point Projection: 14 Points

15. Matt Ryan (Atlanta Falcons) @ New Orleans

Atlanta Falcons’ quarterback Matt Ryan had his worst game of the season last week in a loss to the Cowboys as he had four turnovers and threw for less than 200 yards. Perhaps he should have saved that bad game for this week when the Falcons travel to New Orleans to play the unbeaten Saints. Ryan will return to double-digit fantasy football points this week, but not by much considering how good the Saints are in their secondary.
Point Projection: 13 Points

16. David Garrard (Jacksonville Jaguars) @ Tennessee

Just when you think Jacksonville Jaguars’ quarterback David Garrard is getting better, he has a game like he did in week six where he manages to throw for more than 300 yards but adds two interceptions and no touchdowns. Hmm, well, what are we to think of him this week against a surprisingly bad Tennessee Titans defense? Well, the Titans are just bad enough to allow Garrard to play better, yet still register a similar amount of fantasy football points as the 12 he had in week six. Garrard will likely get a touchdown this week, but no way he approaches 350 yards like he did against the Rams.
Point Projection: 13 Points

17. Daunte Culpepper / Matthew Stafford (Detroit Lions) vs. St. Louis

There seems to be some confusion over the knee injury Matthew Stafford of the Detroit Lions suffered. The Detroit coaching staff seems to think he’ll be back in action soon, while others think he could be out for an extended period of time. Either way, whoever is under center has a nice match-up against the lowly St. Louis Rams. Even though the Rams defense is porous, expect Culpepper or Stafford will still find a way to turn the ball over a few times, hurting their fantasy potential.
Point Projection: 10 Points

18. Alex Smith (San Francisco 49ers) @ Indianapolis

As indicated earlier, Smith has been given the starting job for the 49ers. Too bad for him that it comes during the week when San Francisco travels to face the undefeated Indianapolis Colts. Smith did well to throw three touchdowns last week against the Texans, but facing Indianapolis is an entirely different and more difficult challenge. The Colts are seventh in passing yards allowed and second in the league in points allowed. The start won’t be a good one for Smith.
Point Projection: 9 Points

19. Mark Sanchez (New York Jets) vs. Miami

After watching their rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez throw five interceptions in a loss to the Bills in week six, the New York Jets realized what it is they have to do to be successful this season, and that is to run the ball. Last week in the win over the Raiders, the Jets ran the ball 54 times, while Sanchez attempted just 15 passes. With quality running backs like Thomas Jones and Shonn Greene in New York, you can expect the Jets to continue to run the ball to take the pressure off of Sanchez. That will severely limit Sanchez’s chances to put up big fantasy numbers.
Point Projection: 9 Points

20. Marc Bulger (St. Louis Rams) @ Detroit

St. Louis Rams’ quarterback Marc Bulger followed his first double-digit fantasy football performance two weeks ago by throwing for 140 yards with two interceptions and no touchdowns this past week in a loss to the Colts. Facing Detroit this week, you would think Bulger would be a good bet to bounce back, possibly making for a good spot start . But considering how poorly Bulger and the Rams have been on offense this season, we can’t recommend you use him with confidence.
Point Projection: 9 Points

21. Chad Henne (Miami Dolphins) @ New York Jets

Following a great performance two weeks ago in his first start, Miami Dolphins’ quarterback Chad Henne came back last week with a dud of a game as he threw for 211 yards with two interceptions (both of which returned for touchdowns) and no touchdowns. The aggressive Jets defense, which has one of the league’s best cornerbacks in Darrelle Revis, shouldn’t have much trouble containing Henne.
Point Projection: 8 Points

22. Vince Young (Tennessee Titans) vs. Jacksonville

The last time Tennessee quarterback Kerry Collins took the field he came away with negative yardage and negative fantasy football points. With head coach Jeff Fisher having two weeks to pick his Week 8 quarterback he decided to end the Collins era in Tennessee and go back to Vince Young. Expect the Titans to have an added dynamic to their offense as Young loves to improvise and make plays with his legs but anything over 8-10 fantasy points would be a reach. In fact, the only way Young gets to double-digits is if he breaks off a long run.
Point Projection: 8 Points

23. JaMarcus Russell (Oakland Raiders) @ San Diego

Just when you thought Oakland quarterback JaMarcus Russell couldn’t get any worse, he did. In a loss to the Jets, Russell threw for 61 yards and had three turnovers before he was pulled from the game in favor of Bruce Gradkowski. Head coach Tom Cable said following the game that he’s committed to Russell as the starter, though it’s probably in his and the team’s best interest that the Raiders start seeking other options at quarterback.
Point Projection: 7 Points

24. Ryan Fitzpatrick (Buffalo Bills) vs. Houston

There’s not a whole to like about Buffalo quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. He completes a low number of passes and turns the ball over a lot. Even though the Texans don’t have the strongest defense in the league, you shouldn’t expect anything out of Fitzpatrick this week.
Point Projection: 6 Points

25. Jake Delhomme/Matt Moore (Carolina Panthers) @ Arizona

Why the Panthers haven’t made the move to pull quarterback Jake Delhomme yet is beyond us. The guy is a turnover machine. Matt Moore is unproven and not ready to start, but surely he’d be better than Delhomme, who has 16 turnovers in six games. Regardless of which quarterback starts this game for the Panthers, he should not be anywhere near your starting lineup.
Point Projection: 5 Points

26. Derek Anderson (Cleveland Browns) @ Chicago

Since taking over the starting job for the Browns, quarterback Derek Anderson has two touchdown passes complemented by a robust 11 turnovers. Playing at Chicago this week, there’s some potential he could finish with negative points, but we feel too bad to bestow that on him, so for now, we’ll say he’ll get four points.
Point Projection: 4 Points

WEEK 8 BYE WEEK QUARTERBACKS

Tom Brady (New England Patriots) — The New England Patriots have scored 94 points in the last two weeks, led by nine touchdown passes from quarterback Tom Brady.

Jason Campbell (Washington Redskins) — Things can’t get much worse for Jason Campbell and the Washington Redskins, or can they?

Matt Cassel (Kansas City Chiefs) — The further the season progresses along it’s beginning to look like Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel was just a product of the system in New England.

Josh Johnson (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) — As mentioned earlier, don’t be surprised if you start to see rookie quarterback Josh Freeman start to cut into Johnson’s playing time.

Carson Palmer (Cincinnati Bengals) — After so many close games this season the Bengals finally broke loose on offense, earning a 45-10 win over the Bears last week. That’s mostly due to the five touchdown passes from quarterback Carson Palmer.

Ben Roethlisberger (Pittsburgh Steelers)Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers became the first team to beat the Vikings this season. It’s a good time for the bye week for the Steelers as they’ll face the Broncos and Bengals in back to back games following it.
