14. Joe Nedney (San Francisco 49ers) @ Indianapolis

Joe Nedney is a solid, mid-tier NFL kicker who should benefit from a high-scoring game against the Indianapolis Colts. Ironically though, in this type of matchup, you are looking more at getting extra points for your kicker, not field goals as the San Francisco 49ers most likely will be playing from behind the majority of the game. A good handful of points is all you really can expect from Nedney this week.
Point Projection: 7 points

15. John Carney (New Orleans Saints) vs. Atlanta

While John Carney is rated just about in the middle of field goals made in the NFL this year with 8; however, his 30 XP’s more than make up for the slack. This week he faces an Atlanta Falcons team that will try to play rugged defense; something that should benefit him at times throughout the game. If you have no better option, put in Carney as he will be better than a lot of the kickers out there in Week 8.
Point Projection: 7 points

16. Lawrence Tynes (New York Giants) @ Philadelphia
Lawrence Tynes has had a very solid year to date for the New York Giants kicking game but unfortunately for him they face the Philadelphia Eagles who are not only tough defensively but also give up very few field goals (6 total). While you can do much worse than Tynes, he is still someone that you really don’t want to have to depend on this week. Don’t let the 16 field goals that he has made this year fool you; they won’t be there this week and they haven’t been there lately (3 FGs over last two games).
Point Projection: 7 points

17. Josh Scobee (Jacksonville Jaguars) @ Tennessee

In what be nearly as pathetic as the Detroit Lions verse St. Louis Rams match up, this game should be a snoozer, especially at the kicking position when it comes to Josh Scobee. He just simply isn’t seeing enough kicking chances and no matter how pathetic the Tennessee Titans have played, we see Scobee kicking more extra points in this game.
Point Projection: 7 points

18. Steven Hauschka (Baltimore Ravens) vs. Denver

Steven Hauschka does win the award for the coolest last name as a kicker in the NFL (according to me at least), but that doesn’t really help you much in fantasy football. Look for a lower scoring, grind em’ out effort by the Baltimore Ravens; at least initially in the game. That will lower the odds of Hauschka being able to kick a few between the poles.
Point Projection: 6 points

19. Dan Carpenter (Miami Dolphins) @ New York Jets

Dan Carpenter is a mid-tier place kicker in the NFL and he faces a New York Jets team that allows mid-level field goals. Don’t expect this game to be as high-powered as the fourth quarter between these two a few weeks back. Carpenter is more of a bye-week replacement if anything in Week 8.
Point Projection: 6 points

20. David Akers (Philadelphia Eagles) vs. New York Giants

David Akers is one of the more respected place kickers in the NFL; that might not translate into solid numbers gainst the New York Giants this week as they have collectively given up only 4 field goals in 2009. Don’t let the possibility of a high-powered duel fool you. expect a few extra points and a field goal for the most part.
Point Projection: 6 points

21. Josh Brown (St. Louis Rams) @ Detroit

When the best thing that you can say about a kicker is, “at least he is playing the Detroit Lions”, you know that he should stay on your bench. This is not the week to start Josh Brown, no matter how tempting it may be. After all, we are talking about the Rams offense here.
Point Projection: 6 points

22. Neil Rackers (Arizona Cardinals) vs. Carolina

Neil Rackers is a good kicker, he just happens to find himself on a good offense that finds pay dirt at a higher percentage then it lines up for three points. The Carolina Panthers do not give up many field goals either; 6 on the season to be exact. Stay away from Rackers unless you don’t have any other options.
Point Projection: 5 points

23. Rian Lindell (Buffalo Bills) vs. Houston

If the Buffalo Bills are going to want to stay in the game this week it will be by going for touchdowns not field goals. So you better get what you can get out of Rian Lindell during the first three quarters because after that there won’t be much action. Keep Lindell on your bench.
Point Projection: 5 points

24. Sebastian Janikowski (Oakland Raiders) @ San Diego

If you are looking at Sebastian Janikowski as your kicker this week you truly are in trouble. That or your kicker is on a bye-week and there are no other options besides the two below him in these rankings. Keep him on your bench unless you MUST play him.
Point Projection:4 points

25.  Billy Cundiff (Cleveland Browns) @ Chicago

If the Cleveland Browns can’t put up any points on the board how is Billy Cundiff supposed to be a viable option? Honestly, think about that. No scoring, no points for your kicker. He doesn’t get “yardage” points for kickoffs. Cundiff is waiver wire fodder and nothing more.
Point Projection: 3 points

26. John Kasay (Carolina Panthers) @ Arizona

If you read the Billy Cundiff write-up and still thought you might need to use a player below him then you really should start planning for next season. Haha! John Kasay is and will always be a kicker that will have one or two exceptional weeks a season to remind you of his name, but then disappear when you need him most. Leave him grounded. The birds will eat up the cats this week; a nice turnaround from nature’s norm.
Point Projection: 3 points

WEEK 8 BYE WEEK KICKERS

Cincinnati Bengals – Shayne Graham is a solid kicker on a solid offense. He will be a viable PK1 option at times in deeper leagues throughout the remainder of the season. Just make sure you check the rankings as it WON’T BE every week.

Kansas City Chiefs – Ryan Succop has no value going into the second half of the year. The hapless Kansas City Chiefs have a suspended multi-millionaire running back. Do you really think that the offense is going to improve without their most talented player? Probably not.

New England Patriots – Stephen Gostkowski is playing solid football and is on a team who’s offense is starting to pick it up. Put the two together and that spells success. Should be one of the better kickers from here on out. Just remember there will be weeks that the weather makes him a non-factor.

Pittsburgh Steelers – Jeff Reed is a viable option in a pass-friendly offense. No longer are the days of grind them out, punt. 13-7 wins. That being said, as always, play the matchups.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Shane Andrus is nothing more than a solid option during bye-weeks. Oh by the way, bye-weeks are almost over.

Washington Redskins – Shaun Suisham ate sushi at the she-shore. In other words, he won’t be a factor going on from here.
