When your fantasy football players can’t cut it, it’s time to “Cut Them Loose.” Too often, though, we can’t bring ourselves to pull the trigger. That’s where the Bruno Boys come in. Alleviating the agony, you out there in Bruno Boys Nation experience over those roster moves, we highlight the guys you should cut from your fantasy squads and in our “Keep them Cut” area, guys out there that you need to continue to stay away from. It’s all here in the Fantasy Football Week 6 Waiver Wire - Cut Them Loose.

Note: While you are watching to see if these players can redeem themselves or if you are cutting your losses and dropping some players, you should be checking out Fantasy Football Week 6 Waiver Wire - Pick Them Up so you can start planning on whom to pick up to replace them. And, remember you can always visit our FORUMS to get your questions answered about waiver wire candidates, players to drop or anything at all related to fantasy football.

QUARTERBACKS — CUT THEM LOOSE

Trent Edwards (Buffalo Bills)

How many chances can a guy have to produce at a high enough level to be fantasy football worthy? Each week Trent Edwards has the match-up to post solid statistics yet it never seems to happen. Outside of his 35 combined fantasy points over the first two weeks, Edwards has put together three consecutive single digit scoring games despite having favorable match-ups against the New Orleans Saints (5 points), Miami Dolphins (5 points) and Cleveland Browns (8 points).

The icing on the cake for him making the Fantasy Football Week 6 Waiver Wire list came this week when the signal caller completed just 16 of 31 passes for 152 yards and an interception. Known as captain check down, Edwards completed just three passes over 10 yards and his 4.8 yards per completion average isn’t going to cut it as a quarterback in the NFL. The signal caller out of Stanford has six turnovers to one touchdown pass over the Bills last three games and with match-ups against the New York Jets and Carolina Panthers you are going to want to cut bait with Edwards. Our recommendation to you would be to find a quarterback that can actually attack opposing defenses down field.

Derek Anderson (Cleveland Browns)

It didn’t take long for Derek Anderson to make our Cut Them Loose list. We though only JaMarcus Russell could quarterback an entire football game and complete less than five passes but the Browns quarterback did just that on Sunday. Facing a Buffalo Bills defense that allows over 225 passing yards per game, it looked like Anderson was in line for his second straight 15+ fantasy point game but the veteran could muster just 23 passing yards on 2 of 17 passing. The crazy part about his day is that the Browns kicked a late field goal to beat the Bills by a score of 6-3.

With head coach Eric Mangini not wasting anytime to find an adequate QB don’t be surprised if Anderson is a bad game or two from being back on the bench. His -2 fantasy points was tied for 34th at the QB position in Week 5 and Anderson has far from a favorable schedule moving forward. Over the next three weeks the Browns must travel to Pittsburgh and Chicago to take on the Steelers and Bears while playing host to the Green Bay Packers. None of these games are desirable for his fantasy owners so why waste a roster spot on dead weight? Instead add depth elsewhere or snag a waiver wire QB with a good match-up during your regular QBs bye.

Keep Them Cut - JaMarcus Russell (Oakland Raiders), Jake Delhomme (Carolina Panthers), Byron Leftwich (Tampa Bay Buccaneers)

RUNNING BACKS — CUT THEM LOOSE

LenDale White (Tennessee Titans)

Amazing a player that scored 15 rushing touchdowns just a year ago can make this list but it’s about time to trim your roster fat and get rid of LenDale White. Through five games last year White had 165 rushing yards and five touchdowns fast forward a year and White has just a shade over 100 rushing yards and one touchdown. In fact, the only thing White has going for him at this point is the fact that he is 20-25 pounds lighter because he stopped hitting the bottle. Well Lendale, perhaps you should start drinking the Patron again because your game was better last year.

Realistically thinking, a large part of White’s struggles has to do with the Tennessee Titans inability to play defense. The Titans have allowed at least 24 points in four straight games and with them having to play catch-up it’s forced them to become a passing team. Kerry Collins averaged just 25.9 passing attempts a year ago but through five games the Titans quarterback is averaging over 38 passing attempts per game and is on pace to have over 600 attempts. Until Tennessee’s defense can find themselves it’s going to be a wasted year for White and that won’t happen anytime soon with a match-up against the New England Patriots up next.

Julius Jones (Seattle Seahawks)

Obviously you shouldn’t go dropping running backs unless you have a viable replacement but Julius Jones continues to leave a lot to be desired. The Seattle Seahawks recorded a 41-0 shutout over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 5 but for the second straight week Jones was not a big part of the game-plan and has stats showed. The veteran out of Notre Dame had 12 carries for just 34 rushing yards and he averaged less than 3.0 yards per carry for the second straight week. This is not encouraging news if you own Jones in fantasy football and neither is the fact that he has six combined fantasy points over the last two games.

If Jones continues to struggle don’t be surprised if head coach Jim Mora Jr. starts mixing in Justin Forsett and Edgerrin James in a committee backfield approach. James had 16 carries (five in the first half) against the Jaguars and Forsett had six carries but an impressive 7.3 yards per carry average. Regardless of who rushes the ball in Seattle the schedule moving forward is tough against the rush. Three of their next four games are against opponents who rank in the top half of the NFL against the rush.

Keep Them Cut - Laurence Maroney (New England Patriots), Justin Fargas (Oakland Raiders)

whats up man, 1st year doing fantasy football and im 3-2 right now!  I need to know what to do about my rb situation?  FORTE, BRADSHAW, MENENDALL, COFFEE, CHOICE, AND SPROLES.  I was plan on trading WITTEN for either MAGAHEE or PIERRE THOMAS! I didnt do it yet.  I dont know if FORTE is the real deal, BRADSHAW is a hit or miss, MENENDALL probably wont be the starter in the next couple weeks if PARKER is healthy,  The same goes for COFFEE and CHOICE,  SPROLES is invisible.  I appreciate your time ty.

Hey Jimmy,

I agree that you have a very tricky RB situation. Forte is bound to bounce back and you are right about Bradshaw, but his production will probably go down when Eli is back 100%. If Mendenhall continues to produce, he may take a stronghold on the starting RB job b/c the Steelers haven’t been happy w/ Willie thus far this year. Personally, I drop Coffee b/c Frank Gore will be back after their bye.

A big suggestion to you though, no one really checks the comments. If you ever have questions and want Fantasy Advice, post on the Bruno Boys Forum>Fantasy Advice section. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had my questions answered in a matter of minutes, plus the guys at Bruno Boys will post answers as well. Only takes like a minute to sign up.

Im not doing to bad, im 4-1, tied for first, ahead because of points. These last two weeks where a bit hectic, last week I won 87-85, and this week 101-95, if it weren’t for the challenged play on Edwards monday night it would be a tie. I am very stacked on running backs, I have Adrian Peterson, Chris Johnson, Mendenhall, Kevin Smith, and Pierre Thomas,I have a pretty good line up
Qb-Peyton Manning
WR-Dwayne Bowe, Jerricho Cotchery, Mario Manningham, Brian Celek, Wes Welker.

Should I give up a RB for maybe a Solid WR,because during my matchups, thats were I have a tendency of getting out matched.

THIS IS BAD ADVICE. DO NOT DROP JULIUS JONES.

He’s the clear #1 in Seattle. The only reason other RBs touched the ball this week is because it was a blow out.  The Seahawks are a pass first team, but they won’t be killing teams all season and will need to run the ball on the goal line and to balance the offense.

JJ should be owned in every 12 team league, and he can be started most weeks. He’s a top 20 RB in fantasy points scored this year.

If you have him, do yourself a favor and don’t listen to this “expert”.  If you drop him, someone else will grab him as soon as he’s off waivers.

Hello Guru,
I have Turner Bradshaw Mendenhall Coffee McGahee and F. Jackson. I need to determine a solid consistent starter.
A) should I drop Jackson, he seems done for season with a terrible O line and lynch back in action
B) Besides Turner, . . . in the coming weeks I don’t have a consistent guy I can count on.  McGahee was great, but goose egged last week. Bradshaw is good but a back up, Mendenhall will be replaced by Willie (and if not will have significant amount of carries taken away), and Coffee will be donezo once Gore returns next week.
Thanks,
Lang
