WIDE RECEIVERS – START ‘EM

Mike Sims-Walker (Jacksonville Jaguars) vs. St. Louis

We understand that you may have been put in a bad position when Sims-Walker sat in Week 5 for reportedly missing curfew, and it probably left a bad taste in your mouth. However, so did the 41-0 whooping that the Seattle Seahawks put on the Jaguars. The Jags will be looking for redemption (and it won’t be hard versus the Rams) so you can expect Sims-Walker and the other Jacksonville skill players to score a healthy dosage of fantasy points this week. MSW had looked like he formed a great rapport with signal caller David Garrard in three games prior to Week 5, so expect more of that as he is expected to play in Week 6. Think around 50-75 receiving yards and a TD from the youngster who has learned his lesson that it’s not good to hook up with old flings the night before the game.

Braylon Edwards (New York Jets) vs. Buffalo

Don’t let the stats fool you, Braylon Edwards is on the right track once again. With a new team and a new QB (thankfully), Edwards managed 64 yards and TD in Week 5. What isn’t noted there is that it was almost as close to being 115 yards and 2 TDs, with a few near-reversible calls in the making. While there are more options in New York for Mark Sanchez now, he obviously is already relying on Edwards to take some heat off of the running game.  The Buffalo Bills are ranked 6th in the NFL in passing yards allowed, but it is slightly skewed because one of the ugliest games in NFL history (Derek Anderson, 2 for 17, 23 passing yards) was on their schedule. Realistic thinking from Edwards owners should be another 60 receiving yards and a score in Week 6.

Kenny Britt (Tennessee Titans) @ New England

Britt has been arguably the most impressive rookie wide out to date, even with the Tennessee Titans starting out 0-5. While they will have to play a perfect game to beat the New England Patriots in Week 6, Kerry Collins is on pace to have over 600 passing attempts by season’s end and he has been targeting Britt on a consistent basis this season. He may not find his first TD of his young career, but 60-70 yards would be solid as a bye-week replacement for a fantasy football owner who is in a deep league and in a pinch to fill a roster spot. .

TIGHT ENDS – START ‘EM

Todd Heap (Baltimore Ravens) @ Minnesota

Minnesota has just been average against the pass (largely due to them forcing teams to throw so often), but whether or not, the Ravens may be able to move the ball on the Vikings defense. In what figures to be a very well played game, Todd Heap should find some room because the Vikings have been awful at covering the tight end position in 2009. Cleveland (74 and a TD), Detroit (50 yards), San Francisco (96 and 2 TDs), Green Bay (156 and a TD), and St. Louis (90 yards) have all been relinquished in Weeks 1-5. Expect Heap to get you 50-60 yards for starters and mix in a touchdown in what should be a good match-up versus the Vikings.

KICKERS – START ‘EM

Josh Scobee (Jacksonville Jaguars) vs. St. Louis

The St. Louis Rams have allowed only 8 field goals in 5 games, but add 18 touchdowns against to that mix and that’s the sign of any kickers having a quality game when facing St. Louis. With the Jaguars being shut out by the Seattle Seahawks in Week 5 it led to Scobee getting the dreaded goose egg. Things should change this week as the Rams have allowed 30 or more points in 60% of their games; however the Jaguars inconsistencies on offense should result in good numbers for Scobee this weekend.

DEFENSES – START ‘EM

Carolina Panthers D/ST @ Tampa Bay

We understand that Carolina’s run defense has been awful and even suggested you start Cadillac Williams this week, but you have to love the fact that an experienced defense is facing a “rookie” quarterback in Josh Johnson. His lack of experience should result in a few turnovers for the Panthers D/ST, and they obviously need this win big-time to get back in the hunt in the NFC South. Remember, even with the turnover machine Jake Delhomme under center, this is a Panthers team that went 12-4 in 2008. Expect the Panthers to get back on track and make it two straight games with 10 or more fantasy football points (standard leagues).
