15. Neil Rackers (Arizona Cardinals) @ Seattle
The value of Rackers is truly contingent on what Arizona Cardinals show up. Some weeks they do nothing but score six pointers and Rackers is relegated to point after touchdowns while other weeks he is a field goal kicking machine. Expect a little bit of both in this match-up as we expect it to be a shootout with both kickers being considered options in all leagues.
Point Projection: 8 points
16. Jay Feely (New York Jets) vs. Buffalo
With the Jets offense being up and down thus far it has made a hit or miss option so when using him you have to proceed with caution. Despite the weather expected to be an issue the Jets have the match-up to score points and this should lead to more than enough kicking chances for Feeley to have a solid fantasy football afternoon.
Point Projection: 8 points
17. Shaun Suisham (Washington Redskins) @ Kansas City
Despite the Washington offense struggling to find an identity Suisham has been a solid contributor through the seasons first five weeks and this should continue in Week 6. The veteran kicker is yet to miss a FG attempt in his seven chances and facing a Kansas City Chiefs team that is towards the bottom of the league in just about every defensive statistic should propel Suisham into a decent one week plug-n-play.
Point Projection: 7 points
18. Robbie Gould (Chicago Bears) @ Atlanta
Gould has been his typical self this year having connected on six of his seven field goal attempts while knocking in 11 extra points. His 33 fantasy points are good for 17th overall at the kicking position but his 8.3 points per game average is actually ninth overall at the position. In Week 6 consider Gould a borderline start because something tells us Chicago will be playing catch-up and they will need TDs and not FGs to stay in the game.
Point Projection: 6 points
19. Matt Prater (Denver Broncos) @ San Diego
Prater has 44 fantasy points in five games and enters Week 6 as the fourth ranked kicker. Many projected him to be out of a job by this point of the season but he has made 11 of his 13 field goal attempts to go along with nine extra points. Outside of Lawrence Tynes you can make a case that Prater has been the most consistent kicker in football but don’t expect it to keep up this week against a Chargers team that has allowed just six field goal attempts in four games.
Point Projection: 6 points
20. Steven Hauschka (Baltimore Ravens) @ Minnesota
It’s been since Week 3 that Hauschka had a chance to kick a field goal and that’s not what you want from your fantasy football kicker. We’d be surprised if anyone outside of Baltimore owns him but if you do consider yourself warned that he isn’t a good play in this match-up. The Vikings have allowed just seven field goal attempts in five games and with this game expected to be high scoring the majority of his kicks will once again be PATs and not FGs.
Point Projection: 6 points
21. Rob Bironas (Tennessee Titans) @ New England
With the Tennessee Titans offense being suspect thus far it has made the usually reliable Bironas somewhat of a fantasy afterthought. He has scored double digit fantasy points just once this year and hasn’t even attempted an extra point since Week 3. Heading into a Week 6 match-up against the Patriots isn’t ideal and with there being rain in the forecast it’s best you steer away from Bironas this week.
Point Projection: 6 points
22. Shayne Graham (Cincinnati Bengals) vs. Houston
Once arguably the best fantasy football kicker in the NFL, Graham has been on a downward spiral over the past few seasons. The veteran has yet to score double-digit points in a game and is averaging just 4.4 points per game. In Week 6 the Bengals take on a Texans team that scores touchdowns in bunches and if Cincinnati is going to keep up they better be finding pay dirt and not settling for three pointers. Consider this another mediocre to below average week for Graham.
Point Projection: 6 points
23. Ryan Succop (Kansas City Chiefs) @ Washington
It would take a lot of balls to start Succop because the Chiefs offense has been miserable to date, but if there is ever a week to start him it’s this one. The Washington Redskins have a bend but don’t break defense and Succop should see a few field goal chances to go along with no more than two extra points.
Point Projection: 6 points
24. Shane Andrus (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) vs. Carolina
It’s tough to have any fantasy value when you play for an offense as bad as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Andrus was limited to just kicking extra points in his Week 5 debut against the Philadelphia Eagles and you can expect much of the same in Week 6. His projected one extra point and a field goal is not enough to use him as a bye week filler.
Point Projection: 5 points
25. Rian Lindell (Buffalo Bills) @ New York Jets
With this game expected to be played in heavy winds it’s not the ideal situation to be playing Lindell. Plus, it doesn’t help that the Buffalo Bills offense has scored just one touchdown over the past two games. It’s not that Lindell doesn’t have the leg to produce at a high level it’s just the offense is anemic and even field goal chances have been hard to come by in Buffalo.
Point Projection: 5 points
26. Josh Brown (St. Louis Rams) @ Jacksonville
It’s tough to score fantasy football points when you’ve had just five field goal chances and missed three of them. About 80% of the blame for Brown’s horrible start is being in a lackluster offense but when given the opportunity he has bee inconsistent. This should be his best week of the season but even so you can’t expect much more then a FG or two to go along with a few extra points.
Point Projection: 5 points
27. Billy Cundiff / Phil Dawson (Cleveland Browns) @ Pittsburgh
Regardless of who the kicker is in Cleveland this week they need touchdowns, not field goals, to keep up with a surging Steelers offense. Opponents have only made five FGs in five games against Pittsburgh and Heinz field is one of the most difficult places to kick in football. Stay away from all Cleveland Browns in Week 6.
Point Projection: 4 points
28. Sebastion Janikowski (Oakland Raiders) vs. Philadelphia
It’s sad when your kickers is the best player on your football team but that’s the case for the Oakland Raiders. When given the opportunity Janikowski has been at the top of his game but his kicking chances have been slim thus far. In five games Janikowski has only seen the field 11 times (7 FGs and 4 PATs) and until the Oakland offense finds some consistency it will continue to be this way.
Point Projection: 3 points
WEEK 6 BYE WEEK KICKERS
Joe Nedney (San Francisco 49ers)
After double digit performances in the first two weeks of the season, Nedney has tallied just 13 fantasy points in the three weeks following. The addition of Michael Crabtree could help the Niners’ offense from stalling as often as it currently is, leading to more opportunities for Nedney and making him fantasy relevant once again.
Nick Folk (Dallas Cowboys)
While the Cowboys’ offense has been anything but consistent, the same can’t be said for Folk as the kicker has tallied 5 to 8 fantasy points in each of his last four outings. After the bye, continue to feel confident plugging him into your line-up.
Dan Carpenter (Miami Dolphins) - It the Dolphins offense continue to produce like they have over the last two weeks Carpenter should be a valuable fantasy football bye-week option or a plug-n-play when the match-up is right. Don’t invest a roster spot on him but don’t be surprised if his production remains consistent.
Adam Vinatieri / Matt Stover (Indianapolis Colts) - With Vinatieri expected to miss 4-8 weeks the Colts have signed veteran kicker Matt Stover to fulfill all kicking duties moving forward. Stover is a veteran with an accurate leg and you can’t expect the Colts offense to miss a beat despite the change of kickers.
