41. Jerome Harrison (Cleveland Browns) vs. Cincinnati
As Jamal Lewis’ primary replacement in Week 3 against the Baltimore Ravens, Jerome Harrison rushed for 52 yards and gained another 33 through the air. That may be enough production to start getting Harrison a bit more time this week. In Week 4 Harrison takes on the Cincinnati Bengals; a team not known for stellar defense. Look for a solid handful of fantasy football points this week from Harrison in the Ohio State rivalry game.
Point Projection: 5 points
42. Chester Taylor (Minnesota Vikings) vs. Green Bay
The Green Bay Packers haven’t looked nearly as formidable on defense as we had thought they could be coming into the season. Chester Taylor is one of those running backs that will get it done on the ground and through the air. Last week he put up 70 yards through the air against the San Francisco 49ers and this week he could put up 70 yards on the ground against the Packers. Taylor is one of the most consistent backup running backs in the game and someone that you can rely on for a solid handful of points week in and week out. While we expect this to be a shoot out, Taylor should still see enough action to be a low end flex-option for your bye-week running back.
Point Projection: 5 points
43. Ricky Williams (Miami Dolphins) vs. Buffalo
Ricky Williams continued to surprise in 2009 as he put up 84 yards and a touchdown against the San Diego Chargers. This week he takes on the Buffalo Bills; a team that is not threatening at the least and has given up four rushing touchdowns in just three games. If the Miami Dolphins feed Williams the rock he will be solid. The problem is that his workload is such a question mark that you never know what you will get from him. If you are in a bind, play Williams with confidence that he should get enough touches to grab 4-6 fantasy football points. But he is definitely no guarantee to go for double-digit fantasy points for the second straight week.
Point Projection: 4 points
44. Mike Bell (New Orleans Saints) vs. New York Jets **CHECK INJURY STATUS**
Don’t let the small but impressive showing by Lynell Hamilton scare you off from Mike Bell as Bell is in no way going to lose his current role with the team unless the injury lingers and is more serious than anticipated. Even if Bell is suited up and playing in Week 4 though, he must be on your bench against a very good New York Jets defense.
Point Projection: 4 points
45. Jamal Lewis (Cleveland Browns) vs. Cincinnati **CHECK INJURY STATUS**
Jamal Lewis missed the Week 3 game against the Baltimore Ravens due to injury. Even if he had played the odds are that Lewis would not have been very productive. Lewis has looked very human so far this year and has Jerome Harrison and James Davis breathing down his neck. He hasn’t lost the job just yet though, and with a weaker rush defense in the Cincinnati Bengals, Lewis has a shot at a decent enough week to where you are advised to throw him in as a flex-option as long as he is suited up for the game. Watch his injury status.
Point Projection: 4 points
46. LaDell Betts (Washington Redskins) vs. Tampa Bay
LaDell Betts role as the Washington Redskins back is to spell Clinton Portis here and there, but nothing more. During the Detroit Lions match up he rushed the ball once and caught the ball four times for a total of 45 yards. This week he takes on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers; a team that has not looked that great defensively this year. A handful of fantasy points is expected; anything more is just icing on the cake. Use him in a pinch or if you are strapped with by week issues in a 12 or 14 team league.
Point Projection: 4 points
47. Jamaal Charles (Kansas City Chiefs) vs. New York Giants
Charles only touched the ball nine times in the Chiefs blowout loss to the Philadelphia Eagles last week but he made the most of his opportunity. The speedster out of Texas totaled 70 yards and took a pass for a big gain of 26 yards late in the game. With Larry Johnson averaging a putrid 2.5 yards per carry thus far and Charles continuing to outshine him it’s only a matter of time before we see a true RBBc in Kansas City. Expect the Chiefs to play from behind in this game of for Charles to get some solid fantasy points in garbage time.
Point Projection: 3 points
48. Michael Bennett (San Diego Chargers) @ Pittsburgh
Facing a tough Steelers rush defense will be no easy task in Week 4 but with Tomlnson likely to miss another game and Sproles failing to gain yardage on the ground you can expect Bennett to see some touches in this football game. In a Week 3 victory over the Miami Dolphins Bennett had eight carries for just 18 yards but his 100% increase in carries week over week is encouraging. This ranking is based off of LT sitting out his third straight game and even if this is the case the fantasy football value of Bennett is minimal.
Point Projection: 3 points
49. Justin Forsett (Seattle Seahawks) @ Indianapolis
Alright, so maybe the “talk about Forsett outplaying Julius Jones and becoming the top running back in Seattle was a bit premature but this match-up against the Indianapolis Colts is an intriguing one. The Colts are allowing over 125 rushing yards per game and if Seattle is smart they would play into the Colts weakness and run the football with Jones and Forsett. The only way Seattle has a chance to win is by playing ball control and keeping Peyton Manning off the field, which should lead to an increase in opportunity for Forsett in Week 4.
Point Projection: 3 points
50. James Davis (Cleveland Browns) vs. Cincinnati Bengals
Davis failed to make the most of his opportunity in Week 3 against a swarming Baltimore Ravens rush defense. He finished with just 10 rushing yards on five carries and looked like he didn’t belong on the same field as the Ravens defense. The match-up in Week 4 is more intriguing than last week but remember the Bengals defense is surging and allows just 88 rushing yards per contest. Davis has value but it’s not this week and it might not be until last 5-6 weeks of the season.
Point Projection: 2 points
WEEK 4 INJURY REPORT
Frank Gore (San Francisco 49ers) vs. St. Louis
A banged up Frank Gore carried the ball only one time Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings before leaving with an ankle strain. Despite there being no break in the ankle the 49ers have ruled out at least three weeks. With San Francisco having a Week 6 bye it will give Gore a full month to heal in attempt to be ready for their Week 7 showdown against the Houston Texans. If you are a Gore owner you should target Glen Coffee because this match-up against a Rams defense that allows 148 rushing yards per game is tough to pass on..
Felix Jones (Dallas Cowboys) @ Denver
After Marion Barber suffered a groin injury that caused him to miss Week 3 it was Jones who got the nod as the primary ball carries in Dallas. The speedster out of Arkansas spent the first two and a half quarters shredding a soft Carolina Panthers defense until a sprained PCL ended his night. He finished with 114 total yards and a trip to the infirmary as the injury will force Jones to miss at least one week. We will keep you updated throughout the process but most PCL injuries cause running backs to miss two weeks and with Jones body seeming to be made of glass it could be longer.
WEEK 4 BYE WEEK RUNNING BACKS
Tim Hightower (Arizona Cardinals) – Tim Hightower was the best Arizona Cardinals back during the Sunday night game against the Indianapolis Colts. That isn’t saying much though as Hightower went for only 61 yards on 14 yards and he failed to find pay dirt. The positive is that three weeks into the season and he is still the Cardinals main back while enjoyinig solid success in 2009. Will it continue after the bye-week? We think so!.
Beanie Wells (Arizona Cardinals) – Wells produce two carries for -2 yards and zero receptions in Week 3 against the Indianapolis Colts. Tim Hightower has a strong grasp on the RB1 spot for the Arizona Cardinals and will continue to keep this role until Wells proves consistent.
Michael Turner (Atlanta Falcons) – Michael Turner was expected to dominate this season after bringing in Tony Gonzalez to keep defenses honest. While he hasn’t been his dominant self, Turner did go for ninet fantasy points in Week 3. After a nice break in Week 4, look for Turner to get back on track in attempt to once again being one of the better running backs in fantasy football.
Jerious Norwood (Atlanta Falcons) – Jerious Norwood is nothing more than a backup to Michael Turner. This week off came at the right time as Norwood is banged up and needs some time to heal. Healthy or not, Norwood is nothing more than a low-end RB4 in deeper leagues.
DeAngelo Williams (Carolina Panthers) - For whatever reason, Williams’ had just 11 carries in the Panthers’ Week 3 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. As always, Williams made the most of his opportunity going for 64 rushing yards and a 5.8 yard per carry average. With Carolina sitting at 0-3 and their play-maker having just 50 touches in three games you can expect the coaching staff to get back to basics and feed Williams’ the football after the bye week.
Jonathan Stewart (Carolina Panthers) - Stewart saw just five touches in Week 3 against the Dallas Cowboys and hasn’t played to the potential that many fantasy owners expected from him entering 2009. To date, Stewart has 13 fantasy football points and he hasn’t even sniffed a chance of finding pay dirt. Let’s hope the bye week helps him get right.
Brian Westbrook (Philadelphia Eagles) – Brian Westbrook is known as a star player and great person; is continuing to lose the edge that made him so great. After LeSean McCoy’s 14 fantasy point showing in Week 3, the Philadelphia Eagles won’t hesitate to sit Westbrook to save his health. While Westbrook remains a starter in all fantasy formats, his star status is starting to fade.
LeSean McCoy (Philadelphia Eagles) – In LeSean McCoy’s first NFL start, he went for 84 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries. That is a pretty good output as the passing game was not expected to do much with Donovan McNabb being out; yet the whole offense clicked. Look for McCoy to continue to grow as the season gets older and continue to cut into Westbrook’s workload.
