Mike Sims-Walker (Jacksonville Jaguars)

Even before suffering a season ending injury, former first-round pick Troy Williamson failed to establish himself and that has allowed Mike Sims-Walker to step in as the No. 2 receiver for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Sims-Walker didn’t catch a pass in week one, but when Williamson suffered a torn labrum in a week-two loss to the Arizona Cardinals, Sims-Walker stepped up and six passes for 106 yards and a touchdown. But don’t get too high on Sims-Walker just yet. The Jaguars got behind early and had to throw the ball a lot as quarterback David Garrard attempted 43 passes, something that likely won’t happen again. Likewise, most of Sims-Walker’s production came in what could be considered garbage time. Teams in deeper leagues may feel free to stash him on the bench for now but teams in shallow leagues might want to look elsewhere for the time being.

TIGHT ENDS - PICK THEM UP

Brent Celek (Philadelphia Eagles)

On a team with seemingly endless receiving options, Philadelphia Eagles tight end Brent Celek has emerged as a legitimate and consistent option. In the first two weeks of the season, Celek has caught 14 passes for 141 yards and one touchdown. He has been productive with Donovan McNabb and Kevin Kolb at quarterback, showing the Eagles clearly want him involved in the passing game. Another thing Philadelphia likes Celek for is his effectiveness inside the red zone, an area where the smaller receivers the Eagles have struggled.

KICKERS - PICK THEM UP

Rian Lindell (Buffalo Bills)

Rian Lindell hit a field goal and three extra points in week one, then came back with four field goals made and three extra points in a week two win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It may not seem like a good idea to own a kicker from a team with an inconsistent offense, but Lindell has proven his worth. Last season, he hit a career-high 30 field goals and the Buffalo offense is one that will stall often. If the Bills are anywhere near field goal range, Lindell is picking up those points.

Joe Nedney (San Francisco 49ers)

Throughout the years Joe Nedney has been one of the more consistently good kickers in the league, but he was overlooked this season by fantasy football owners as not many gave credit to the San Francisco 49ers offense. In two games, Nedney has hit on five field goals and four extra points. Similar to Lindell and Buffalo, Nedney should get a decent amount of field goal opportunities as the 49ers offense stalls inside opposing team’s territory.

DEFENSE/SPECIAL TEAMS - PICK THEM UP

Denver Broncos

It’s tough to gauge just how good the Denver defense is when the first two games the Broncos played were against the Bengals and Browns, neither of which possess a particularly good offense. But, we must give credit where it is due, and the Broncos have only allowed a combined 13 points through the first two games in addition to causing three interceptions and recovering two fumbles. The other reason the Denver defense is on the waiver wire - pick them up this week is because the Broncos have a favorable match-up against the Oakland Raiders in week three. Oakland quarterback JaMarcus Russell only completed 7 of his 24 pass attempts this past week against the Chiefs, whose pass defense isn’t nearly as good as Denver’s.
