WIDE RECEIVERS – START ‘EM
Santonio Holmes (Pittsburgh Steelers) vs. Green Bay
Santonio Holmes should be in for a solid Week 15 after being the only true offensive source against the Cleveland Browns last Thursday night. His six receptions fore 93 receiving yards were nothing extraordinary, but Holmes was reliable and looked to be on the same page with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Despite ranking 3rd in the NFL in passing yards allowed, the Green Bay Packers have allowed 24 passing touchdowns (15 to WRs) and 17.5 points per game to the wide receiver position, which makes Santonio in line for another productive weekend in Pittsburgh. As long as the Steelers can keep quarterback Roethlisberger upright (8 sacks allowed against Cleveland) he should be able to find his playmaking wide receiver, who has emerged as the go-to option over the last five games.
Antonio Bryant (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) @ Seattle
The Seattle Seahawks have had the worst pass defense in the NFL since their Week 7 bye. Over their last seven games Seattle has allowed 17 touchdown passes and opposing quarterbacks are averaging 292.3 passing yards per game. If you don’t believe us that Antonio Bryant could produce in Week 15, ask Andre Johnson, who put up 184 yards and two touchdowns in the first half of his game against the Seahawks last weekend. While Bryant has been bothered by injuries and inconsistencies in the Buccaneers offense, his quarterback Josh Freeman has thrown 77 times in the past two games, and with Seattle’s struggles you can expect him to be airing it out once again this week. Bryant’s should see enough targets to flourish against this broken down secondary and can be considered as a low-end WR2 or WR3 play in Week 15.
TIGHT ENDS – START ‘EM
Fred Davis (Washington Redskins) vs. New York Giants
In Week 14, Fred Davis once again impressed fantasy football owners by posting the first (and second) tight end touchdowns allowed on the season against the Oakland Raiders. He has proven to be as reliable as any TE the past three weeks averaging over 12 points per game and scoring a touchdown in each of his past three. Entering Week 15 his match-up couldn’t be any better. The New York Giants are the second worst in the NFL at defending the TE, allowing 9.8 fantasy points per game, and they gave up 12 points to Philadelphia Eagles tight end Brent Celek last week. Look for Redskins’ game-plan to feature Davis and for quarterback Jason Campbell to rely on his emerging red zone target. Even if he doesn’t find pay dirt Davis should see enough targets and accumulate enough yardage to be a sure bet TE1 play with your fantasy football season on the line.
KICKERS – START ‘EM
Olindo Mare (Seattle Seahawks) vs. Tampa Bay
In a blowout loss to the Houston Texans, Mare was only able to post one point in Week 14, but fantasy owners’ should let that scare you away from a favorable Week 15 match-up. Last week, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers allowed New York Jets kicker Jay Feely to knock down 4-of-5 field goals and two extra points while scoring 16 fantasy points. With the Seahawks at home, and the Buccaneers having allowed three or more FG attempts to kickers in each of their last three games, you have to like Mare’s chances to shine. If you have a kicker on a great offense, hang on to them, but if you’re stuck with someone like Arizona Cardinals kicker Neil Rackers (questionable-groin injury), Mare should be a good option.
DEFENSES – START ‘EM
Houston Texans D/ST @ St. Louis
As we’ve been preaching all season long, whichever NFL team gets to play the St. Louis Rams should probably be a starter in your fantasy football lineup. If you had the brilliant foresight to pick-up the Texans before this week for the first week of your playoffs, you should be able to reap some serious benefits. St. Louis quarterback Keith Null not only had one of his interceptions returned for a touchdown against the Tennessee Titans in Week 14, but he finished the game with five interceptions and was sacked once. The Titans racked up 21 fantasy points, and the Houston Texans D/ST should be used as a Week 15 plug-n-play..
