WIDE RECEIVERS – SIT ‘EM

Roddy White (Atlanta Falcons) @ New York Jets

For those that haven’t heard about the New York Jets match-up, it’s called the Darrelle Revis theory. Among wide receivers Antonio Bryant, Terrell Owens, Steve Smith (CAR), Randy Moss, Mike Sims-Walker, Marques Colston, and Andre Johnson; the best overall game posted against Revis was MSW’s 49 yards and touchdown. Overall, those 7 receivers in 9 games combined totaled 209 yards and 2 TDs against the stud corner back. White has been really good this season, but the numbers show that he should struggle in week 15.

Greg Jennings (Green Bay Packers) @ Pittsburgh

Although the Pittsburgh Steelers allow nearly 20 points per game to fantasy wide receivers, they have only allowed 9 touchdowns (tied for 8th best in the NFL) to them. In terms of Jennings’ game, yardage is nice, but touchdowns are where you make your money (so to speak). A TD machine his last two seasons in the league (21 TDs combined); Jennings has only posted 3 this season. His last three weeks, Jennings has averaged 5.6 points per contest, not exactly the 2nd or 3rd round pick you were expecting. His Pittsburgh match-up isn’t ideal and with the weather a factor, this game could be a low-scoring affair. Avoid Jennings if you can.

Mario Manningham (New York Giants) @ Washington

The Washington Redskins’ defense really is as good as advertised. The Redskins pass defense allows 17.7 fantasy points per game to the opposition’s wide receivers, but with so many options on the Giants roster, it’s hard to gauge who will be useful on a week-to-week basis. It’s evident that Steve Smith is a start through thick and thin, and Hakeem Nicks has overtaken Manningham as the #2 for the Giants. It seems as though Manningham’s luck has run out in 2009, as he’s only recorded 3 catches for 26 yards the past two games.

TIGHT ENDS – SIT ‘EM

Brent Celek (Philadelphia Eagles) vs. San Francisco

The San Francisco 49ers have been one of the best teams defending the tight end all season. Celek goes up against a 49ers’ defense that allows less than 50 yards a game to the tight end position, and has only given up one touchdown to the slot all season long. In the past five weeks, the Niners defense has only given up 16 points to the opposition’s top tight end threat. Even though Celek has been a top-10 guy, the Eagles probably will rely on their wide receivers to make plays in this week 15 match-up.

KICKERS – SIT ‘EM

Jeff Reed (Pittsburgh Steelers) vs. Green Bay

To keep going with our theory from prior weeks, kickers don’t fare well against Green Bay. The Packers allow the least fantasy points to kickers in the NFL at 4.4 per game. They have only allowed 13 field goals to be attempted, with only 9 of those made. In the past three weeks, Bears’ K Robbie Gould notched 2 points, Ravens’ K Billy Cundiff had 2 points, and Lions’ K Jason Hanson booted 4. Stay away from Reed this weekend, especially at the toughest field in the NFL to kick in: Heinz Field.

DEFENSES – SIT ‘EM

Dallas Cowboys D/ST @ New Orleans Saints

The Cowboys’ defense has posted some solid games this season, but they’ve had a tough go of things of late, notching just a combined four fantasy points over their last two contests, which were against the New York Giants and San Diego Chargers. Things don’t get any easier for the Cowboys as they head to New Orleans to take on a Saints’ offense that is averaging 35.8 points per game. The Saints just have too many weapons for Dallas to handle, which means this unit will be in for a long, long day.
