17 Neil Rackers (Arizona Cardinals) @ San Francisco **CHECK INJURY STATUS**
Rackers matched his season high with 12 fantasy points in week 13 against the Minnesota Vikings. Oddly enough, he, also, had 12 fantasy points in Week 1 against this very 49ers’ team that he’ll match up against in week 14. However, we expect the Cardinals to be a bit better at finishing their drives this time around, hurting Rackers’ value just a tad.
Point Projection: 8 points
18. Sebastian Janikowski (Oakland Raiders) vs. Washington
Finally having a quarterback under center that’s capable of completing a pass, the Raiders’ offense has come to life of late. In games that Bruce Gradkowski has started, Sebastian Janikowski has averaged 7 fantasy points. He should be around that number again this week as he squares off against a Redskins’ defense that has given 14 points in each of the last two weeks to opposing kickers.
Point Projection: 8 points
19. Josh Scobee (Jacksonville Jaguars) vs. Miami
Scobee may have been a perfect 3-of-3 on field goal attempts in week 13, but even with the perfect day, he’s just 15-of-23 on the year, a FG percentage of 65.2. In the world of education, that’s barely a passing mark. Despite the Miami Dolphins giving up loads of points to opposing kickers don’t let your season rest on this inaccurate leg.
Point Projection: 7 points
20. Kris Brown (Houston Texans) vs. Seattle
After missing crucial field goals in Houston’s Week 9 and Week 11 loss the status of Brown remaining the Texans’ kicker was in question. Since, he has made his last three field goal attempts and combined for 13 fantasy football points over the last two games. Not great numbers but enough to keep his job and consider him an option in a league that requires you start two kickers. With both the Seattle Seahawks and the Houston Texans expected to light up the scoreboard it could lead to plenty of kicking chances for Brown.
Point Projection: 7 points
21. Ryan Succop (Kansas City Chiefs) vs. Buffalo
Through thick and thin Succop has been able to keep his composure and knock down his kicks when called upon. In a Week 13 blowout loss to the Denver Broncos the rookie knocked down two field goals. This marked the fourth time in the last five games that Succop has converted on at least two field goals and you have to like his chances this week. The only thing holding Succop back from being a No.1 fantasy kicker is the putrid 28th ranked Kansas City offense.
Point Projection: 7 points
22. Graham Gono (Washington Redskins) @ Oakland
Gono will be making his NFL debut against the Oakland Raiders on Sunday. After Shaun Suisham missed a chip shot that would have sealed the victory in Week 13 the Redskins decided to was time to cut him loose. The rookie out of Florida State has a fresh leg but with the weather in Oakland projected to get ugly he might not be able to use it much.
Point Projection: 6 points
23. Josh Brown (St. Louis Rams) @ Tennessee
Brown has had at least two field goal chances in each of his last three games and has averaged 8.2 fantasy football points per game over his last five. This is quite the increase from the start of the season in which Brown scored just nine fantasy points in the Rams’ first five games. Still, St. Louis ranks dead last in the NFL in scoring offense (11.6 points per game) and you shouldn’t enter your fantasy playoffs relying on their kicker.
Point Projection: 6 points
24. Matt Bryant (Atlanta Falcons) vs. New Orleans
In his first game as a member of the Atlanta Falcons, Bryant had quite the uneventful afternoon. His lone kicking chance was an extra point as the Falcons got thrashed by the Philadelphia Eagles. Odds are he will see a few more kicking chances in this game but not enough to warrant any fantasy consideration.
Point Projection: 6 points
25. Jeff Reed (Pittsburgh Steelers) @ Cleveland
You can blame Reed’s low ranking on the weather. With high winds and snow in the forecast for the Steelers Week 14 match-up against the Cleveland Browns it’s best to take the safe route and stay away from Reed. He did knock down two field goals and three extra points in a Week 6 victory over Cleveland, but if the wind is blowing too hard and the surface is icy it could be a long night for those who roll with Reed on Thursday.
Point Projection: 6 points
26. Nick Folk (Dallas Cowboys) vs. San Diego
Let’s keep this short and simple. Folk has missed at least one field goal in four straight games and has missed three field goals over the Cowboys’ past two games. He is in a slump and the Cowboys could be reluctant to use him unless it’s a chip shot. Plus, the San Diego Chargers have allowed just 10 combined fantasy football points to opposing kickers over the last three games.
Point Projection: 6 points
27. Robbie Gould (Chicago Bears) vs. Green Bay
The only fantasy owners’ considering Gould in Week 14 should be Chicago Bears fans. He’s attempted only two field goals and three extra points over the past two weeks and no team is better in the NFL at defending the kicker than the Green Bay Packers. Opposing teams have made just nine FGs against the Packers and are scoring 4.6 fantasy points per game. In case you can’t see the writing on the wall…this is a bad match-up and one that you should avoid.
Point Projection: 5 points
28. Jason Hanson (Detroit Lions) @ Baltimore
Hanson has attempted just six field goals over the Lions’ last four games and he’s failed to convert on three of those attempts. It’s one thing when your not scoring fantasy points because you aren’t getting the opportunity too, but it’s bad news when you are not taking advantage of your chances. Combines his struggles with heavy rain expecting to hit Baltimore on Sunday and you are going to want to avoid Hanson at all costs.
Point Projection: 5 points
29. Joe Nedney (San Francisco 49ers) vs. Arizona
It’s tough to be a consistent fantasy performer when your chances to knock down kicks are limited. Usually a reliable low-end No.1 kicker, Nedney has attempted three field goals in a game just once this season and has just eight FG attempts over the 49ers last seven games. Don’t expect things to change on Monday Night.
Point Projection: 5 points
30. John Kasay (Carolina Panthers) @ New England
It doesn’t really matter how good your leg is, when you play in a bad offense your fantasy football value is limited. This has been the case for Kasay in 2009, as the veteran has converted on eight field goals over his last three games but is still owned in less than 20 percent of fantasy leagues. With heavy rain expected to hit Foxboro and the Panthers likely needing six pointers, not three pointers, to keep up with the New England Patriots we can’t suggest you go with Kasay despite his recent hot streak.
Point Projection: 5 points
31. Connor Barth (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) vs. New York Jets
Outside of knocking down three 50+ yard field goals in one game Barth has been downright terrible. With Tampa Bay struggling on offense it’s led to Barth attempting six field goals over the last two weeks but the second year kicker has missed three of those tries. Facing a tough New York Jets defense will be no easy take for the Buccaneers and you can’t expect Barth to see many kicking chances in this football game.
Point Projection: 4 points
32. Phil Dawson (Cleveland Browns) vs. Pittsburgh
If you are considering Dawson in your lineup it’s likely that you play in a league at www.stinkball.com in which the team with the least points each week wins their match-up. Sitting Dawson from the beginning was a wise move and now with a snow storm hitting Cleveland it’s a must.
