WIDE RECEIVERS – SIT ‘EM

Chris Chambers (Kansas City Chiefs) vs. Denver

Chambers has been more than a stop-gap option for fantasy owners the past few weeks (4 games: 319 yards, 3 TDs), but expect the streak of 6+ fantasy points per week to stop this weekend. The Broncos allow the 6th least fantasy points to opposing WRs, and with struggles from Matt Cassel likely, we assume Chambers will stumble as well. Chambers has the rare occurrence of going against Champ Bailey three times this season (once as a member of the Chargers, twice in the next 5 weeks), and that is not something that most WRs would like to brag about.

Greg Jennings (Green Bay Packers) vs. Baltimore

As Donald Driver has taken over as QB Aaron Rodgers’ favorite receiver this season, Jennings has taken a backseat. Driver has bested Jennings in every important category, and going up against the Ravens defense doesn’t make things any easier for the Packers’ wide receiver. The Ravens are 12th in the NFL allowing 17.6 fantasy points per game to opposing WRs, but they have only allowed 7 TDs through 11 games. Jennings’ 3 TDs have been a huge disappointment considering he averaged 10.5 TDs the previous 2 seasons. So, while Jennings could see some decent yardage, a TD may be setting the bar a little too high this Monday night.

Nate Burleson (Seattle Seahawks) vs. San Francisco

With Hasselbeck expected to struggle (or so we believe), Burleson could do the same. The 49ers have given up just 8 TDs to WRs this season, which is right around the middle of the pack, but the Jags were unable to do much with Mike Sims-Walker, Mike Thomas, or Torry Holt (they each had 4 catches for 62 yards or less) in week 12. If the 6-point game is what you are looking for, you may be able to find that from Burleson, but the 49ers need to shut down the passing game to be effective and win this must-win week. In Burleson’s last 5 games, he has averaged 5.8 points per game without a TD reception, a place he should stay during this week 13 contest.

TIGHT ENDS – SIT ‘EM

Heath Miller (Pittsburgh Steelers) vs. Oakland

It must be strange to read that a player going up against Oakland is a Sit ‘Em in week 13, but that is exactly what Heath Miller is. The Raiders are one of only two teams to not allow a TE TD this season (the Saints are the other), and the 4.1 points per game the Raiders’ are giving up to the position is not ideal for a TE who makes his money finding the end zone. Other than week 11 against KC, Heath Miller has posted 6 fantasy points in the past 5 weeks (with the 15 point week 11, he has averaged slightly over 4 points per game). Look for other options going into this weekend.

KICKERS – SIT ‘EM

Dan Carpenter (Miami Dolphins)

Carpenter has been the 9th best fantasy kicker in standard scoring leagues in 2009, but he wasn’t able to even attempt a FG in week 12. The Patriots have only allowed 9 FGs all season long, perhaps an accomplishment, or perhaps they have allowed too many people to score and only kick XPs. Either way, they allow less than 5 fantasy points per game to opposing kickers, so Carpenter should be sat for week 13.

DEFENSES – SIT ‘EM

Baltimore Ravens D/ST @ Green Bay

The Ravens haven’t been all they were cracked up to be a few years back; probably a sign of aging players and the loss of a few key ones (Bart Scott, Terrell Suggs). However, they have been more than usable this season when an average to below-average offense has played against them. Other than allowing the most sacks in the NFL, the Packers offense is 6th in the NFL in total yards, 1st in TO differential at +17, and has been one of the most efficient in the game with Aaron Rodgers under center. While the Ravens could accumulate a few sacks on Monday Night, Rodgers should fare well against them.
