WIDE RECEIVERS — CUT THEM LOOSE

Santana Moss (Washington Redskins)

With just five receptions and 41 receiving yards over the seasons first two weeks Santana Moss owners began to panic. Then in typical Moss fashion he turned it around over the next two weeks and exploded for 252 receiving yards and two touchdowns. However, that two week stretch of success was the last time Moss did anything notable as the veteran wide out has had a hard time creating separation from opposing defensive backs. This has led to Moss averaging a paltry four receptions and 42 receiving yards per game over his last six games. On the season the Washington Redskins average just 14.6 points per game and their schedule isn’t getting any easier. In fact, each of their last six opponents rank in the top half of the league against the pass which makes it a safe to assume Moss won’t turn his season around. Even if you are a Redskins homer it’s time to cut Moss from your fantasy football team.

Austin Collie (Indianapolis Colts)

We won’t go as far as saying it was a nice story while it lasted, because Austin Collie surely isn’t done in this league, but for the time being his run of fantasy football relevance has officially ended. Collie made the most of an early season injury to starting wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez and had a three game stretch in which he hauled in 18 receptions for 198 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Since then things haven’t panned out like Collie and his fantasy owners’ would have hoped. The rookie receiver has failed to catch a touchdown pass over the past month and has just 13 fantasy points over his last four games. Unless you are in a points-per-reception league (15 receptions over last four games) it might be time to release Collie from your fantasy roster. The emergence of Pierre Garcon has made Collie the fifth option in the Colts offense and with there being no more bye weeks you might want to look elsewhere.

Keep Them Cut - Torry Holt (Jacksonville Jaguars), Johnny Knox (Chicago Bears), Isaac Bruce (San Francisco 49ers), Laveranues Coles (Cincinnati Bengals) Domenik Hixon (New York Giants), James Jones (Green Bay Packers), Bernard Berrian (Minnesota Vikings), Malcolm Floyd (San Diego Chargers)

TIGHT ENDS — CUT THEM LOOSE

Jason Witten (Dallas Cowboys)

It’s tough to dump a player that you invested a high fantasy football draft pick in but if you look at what Jason Witten has done for you lately it’s worth considering. Witten hasn’t been on the receiving end of a Tony Romo touchdown pass since Week 2 and he has been nothing but a possession tight end. He does have 54 receptions on the season which is tied for second amongst tight ends, but Witten is averaging just 8.9 yards per catch which is a full three yards lower than a year ago. This has led to Witten not recording double-digit fantasy football points in a single game this year and to make matters worse the veteran tight end has just 24 fantasy points over the Cowboys’ last six games. Entering Week 11 Witten ranked just 14th amongst tight ends in standard scoring leagues and with there being no signs of him turning the corner you might be better off targeting a guy like Visanthe Shiancoe.

Keep Them Cut - Spencer Havner (Green Bay Packers), Anthony Fasano (Miami Dolphins), Randy McMichael (St. Louis Rams), Alge Crumpler (Tennessee Titans)
