WIDE RECEIVERS – SIT ‘EM
DeSean Jackson (Philadelphia Eagles) vs. Washington
DeSean Jackson has surprisingly been one of the more consistent fantasy entities in 2009. While most think that if he doesn’t catch the big pass, he is somewhat useless…he tends to catch a big pass in nearly every game. He’s finally making more catches (16 the past two weeks), but Washington should be able to limit his playmaking ability. They’ve only allowed 8 TDs to opposing WRs and Jackson only had 2 catches for 69 yards (although he did have a 57 yard TD catch). It’s hard to bench him, but his match-up isn’t favorable.
Jerricho Cotchery (New York Jets) vs. Carolina
The Panthers have only allowed 3 receiving TDs to WRs this season, meaning it takes about three games for a WR to score on them. The last QB who was able to accomplish such a feat was none other than Drew Brees (and he could only throw 1). Mark Sanchez is no Drew Brees, and we feel that he should struggle against the Panthers secondary. Cotchery has been very good, and has proven he is just as valuable with Braylon Edwards as he was without. Cotchery won’t be able to sniff the end zone against the Panthers however, so he becomes a Sit ‘Em based on poor match-up rather than poor performance.
Ted Ginn Jr., Davone Bess, Greg Camarillo (Miami Dolphins) @ Buffalo
It could very well be that owners have jettisoned Ginn away after he has disappointed fantasy owners all season long. In fact it may have been long ago. If that is the case, just know that the Bills allow the least points to fantasy WRs and the Dolphins passing game is nearly non-existent. Sit Ginn, Bess, and any other WRs on this squad.
TIGHT ENDS – SIT ‘EM
Benjamin Watson (New England Patriots) @ New Orleans
Benjamin Watson has developed into a low-end TE1 (in deeper leagues), based on his penchant for finding the end zone on a semi-regular basis. His opposition this game has succeeded in not allowing a TD by the tight end however, so unless Watson is able to break a 10-game trend, he is not a worthwhile starter this weekend. If you’re in a bind this weekend, look for waiver wire pickups Fred Davis against Philadelphia or Shawn Nelson against Miami to have decent games in week 12.
KICKERS – SIT ‘EM
Billy Cundiff (Baltimore Ravens) vs. Pittsburgh
The Steelers hardly allow FGs to happen against their team (13 for 18 against them), and teams have only scored 17 TDs on them all season long (3rd best in the NFL). Cundiff fills in for released K Steven Hauschka who was kicking FGs that made the uprights look like the Arena Football League ones. This game will probably be a game of field position, and the Ravens probably don’t have much faith in their kicking game, as it has failed them on many occasions this season.
DEFENSES – SIT ‘EM
New Orleans Saints D/ST vs. New England
This match-up also goes the opposite way; New England’s D/ST should NOT be started against the Saints either. Both offenses are so explosive that neither defense should be able to stop them on too many occasions. Keep both of them on the bench in Week 12 as Drew Brees and Tom Brady should be able to post 30 or more points on their opposition.
