WIDE RECEIVERS — CUT THEM LOOSE
Bernard Berrian (Minnesota Vikings)
Minnesota Vikings’ quarterback, Brett Favre, amassed an impressive 344 passing yards in his team’s victory over the Detroit Lions. Unfortunately, for his owners, Berrian was on the receiving end of just 22 of those 344 yards. So, where did the rest of Favre’s passing yards go? Well, they went to the usual suspects as Sidney Rice totaled 201 receiving yards, Percy Harvin tallied 53 yards, and tight end, Visanthe Shiancoe had 43. All week long, we here at the Bruno Boys stressed how Berrian is now the fourth option in the Vikings’ passing game, and this game just reaffirms that. Failing to build a rapport with Favre all season long, Berrian has no more than 3 catches in any of his last five games, a span that has seen him total just double digit fantasy points once. Moving forward, with each game having huge fantasy playoff implications, do you really want to rely on a team’s fourth option in the passing game to get you fantasy points? We don’t.
James Jones (Green Bay Packers)
Finding pay dirt in three of his four games prior to week 10, Jones was doing an admirable job as the Packers’ No. 3 wide receiver behind Donald Driver and Greg Jennings. The return of Jordy Nelson, however, has complicated matters, as the No. 3 spot on the depth chart is no longer Jones’ alone. Moving forward, Jones will split the No. 3 duties with Nelson, which makes neither a solid fantasy option as week 10 proved. While Nelson hauled in four catches for 32 yards, Jones had just three receptions for 17 yards. The return of tight end, Jermichael Finley, is likely to limit Jones’ value further. With the byes behind us, Jones is back to being waiver wire fodder.
Malcolm Floyd (San Diego Chargers)
The concept of “you snooze, you lose” is prevalent in the world of fantasy football. Thus, when news breaks in the NFL, fantasy owners act and ask questions later. That appears to be what happened in the case of Malcom Floyd. With the San Diego Chargers cutting ties with Chris Chambers, fantasy owners rushed to their waiver wires to claim Floyd, Chargers’ new No. 2 receiver. After all, some of the left overs from Philip Rivers had to go Floyd’s way. That, though, has not really been the case. Floyd, who did not have more than 3 catches in any contest prior to earning the starting job, still doesn’t as he’s had outings of 2 catches for 29 yards and 3 catches for 45 yards since taking over the WR2 duties. While you may have just added Floyd to your roster two weeks ago, it is already time to cut ties with the receiver.

TIGHT ENDS — CUT THEM LOOSE
Zach Miller (Oakland Raiders)
Following his six catch, 139 yard, and 1 TD effort against the Philadelphia Eagles in week six, Miller has hauled in just 8 passes for 76 yards in three outings. Obviously, Miller’s struggles have more to do with JaMarcus Russell’s ineffectiveness than they do his talents. But, whatever the case, Miller just isn’t getting the job done from a fantasy perspective. With none of the Oakland Raiders’ remaining opponents giving up more than 6.8 fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends, the Raiders’ tight end is expendable.
