16. Fred Davis (Washington Redskins) @ Dallas

During the past month Fred Davis has gone for 199 receiving yards which has brought his face to the fantasy football map. Filling in for the injured Chris Cooley is one thing, playing like Chris Cooley, now that is something else. This week he faces a Dallas Cowboys team that is middle-rung for NFL defenses against the tight end. Davis should be a serviceable, middle of the road TE2 play this week.
Point Projection: 5 points

17. Todd Heap (Baltimore Ravens) vs. Indianapolis  **CHECK INJURY STATUS**

Todd Heap is a poster boy TE2 for 2009. Solid yardage, averaging 38.8 on the season, 34.5 during this past four game stretch and has had a minimum of three receptions in that span as well. In PPR leagues Heap holds a little more value than his positional ranking this week, but none-the-less he faces a very touch Indianapolis Colts defense who have allowed only one tight end touchdown all year and 2.7 fantasy football points on average per week. Don’t expect much more than what he has been doing this past month out of Heap, making him a decent yardage plays as a TE2 option.
Point Projection: 4 points

18. Kevin Boss (New York Giants) vs. Atlanta

While Kevin Boss has been solid on the receiving end of the ball going for 35.4 yards per game, the one thing that had been missing from his arsenal this year has been touchdowns. That no longer seems to be the problem as he has a touchdown in each of his last two games and faces a team this week in the Atlanta Falcons that have made tight ends look very good this year. While grabbing a touchdown in three consecutive games is not something to bet on, for this week it is something that you definitely don’t want to bet against. Play Boss as a mid-TE2 in deeper leagues but remember he has been doing his damage despite seeing limited targets.
Point Projection: 4 points

19. Zach Miller (Oakland Raiders) vs. Cincinnati

For 2009, Zach Miller has enjoyed a somewhat successful year as he has nailed down 430 yards and a touchdown; it leaves to the imagination of what he really could do if he were on a team with talent surrounding him. This week he faces a team that gives up 6.1 fantasy points on average to the tight end position. While the Cincinnati Bengals are fairly formidable, Miller should be able to produce enough to be a solid TE2 in deeper leagues but in all reality do you want to rely on an Oakland Raider player in fantasy football?
Point Projection: 4 points

20. Brandon Pettigrew (Detroit Lions) vs. Cleveland

Brandon Pettigrew has been on again and off again during his rookie campaign, catching a minimum of two passes during the past month with a high of seven. The high point came against Seattle when he went for 13 non-ppr fantasy football points in Week 9. While that is not something to expect this week it is something that he is fully capable of doing. Like Will Heller, Pettigrew is a solid, sneaky pick if you are scrambling for a tight-end in Week 11.
Point Projection: 4 points

21. Tony Scheffler (Denver Broncos) vs. San Diego

While Tony Scheffler has the talent to score fantasy points in a hurry, 2009 has not been kind to him or his owners. In fact after a 101 yard showing in Week 6 against the San Diego Chargers he has combined for a total of 41 yards and zero touchdowns. That isn’t something that can be relied on, but as we said his last big game was against the Chargers and that is who his opponent is for Week 11. While you shouldn’t expect another 101 yards and a touchdown, solid stats can still be had if the Broncos use him lined up as a wide receiver like they did in Week 6.
Point Projection: 4 points

22. Randy McMichael (St. Louis Rams) vs. Arizona

While Randy McMichael is rated slightly higher than Daniel Fells this week, that doesn’t mean that McMichael is the much better play. In fact, he isn’t. But he has been a bit more consistent as he has a run on games that consist of a minimum of two receptions. As all lower-end tight ends, there really is no telling what you are going to end up with. Keep your expectations grounded.
Point Projection: 3 points

23. Daniel Fells ( St. Louis Rams) vs. Arizona

In his last two games Daniel Fells has 4 receptions for 87 yards and a touchdown. The Arizona Cardinals are pretty touch on opposing tight ends but the St. Louis Rams passing game is starting to turn it on a little. If you are in need of a tight end that is probably still on the waiver wire that can grab you a couple points or more you can do much worse than Fells.
Point Projection: 3 points

24. Robert Royal (Cleveland Browns) @ Detroit

The main thing that Robert Royal has going for him is that he faces the Detroit Lions in Week 11 and fellow tight end Steve Heiden is out for the season with an ankle injury. In his career, Royal has faced Detroit two times prior for a total of one reception which is not good by any means, but with the caliber of these two teams this year anything can happen. Don’t expect much, but some solid yardage is a possibility.
Point Projection: 3 points

25. John Paul Foschi (Cincinnati Bengals) @ Oakland

Since taking over as the starting tight end in Cincinnati two weeks ago Foschi has hauled in five receptions for 46 receiving yards. His four fantasy football points during that span aren’t going to win you any games and shouldn’t be considered starter worthy in even the deepest of leagues. With the Bengals using their wide receivers in the red zone it makes Foschi nothing more than a 15-30 yard per week play.
Point Projection: 2 points

26. Donald Lee (Green Bay Packers) vs. San Francisco

Donald Lee is the opposite of Spencer Havner in the fact that he is at least used in the passing game as a reception receiver, he just does not get many touchdowns. If you are in need of a desperation play and both of the Green Bay Packer tight ends are getting consideration (check the injusry status of Jermichael Finley), go with Lee if you need every point that you can get. Go with Havner if you can live with an all or nothing play.
Point Projection: 2 points

27. Spencer Havner (Green Bay Packers) vs. San Francisco

Here is a stat for you, four weeks, four touchdowns on only five catches. His last three receptions have been for a total of 23 yards and 1 touchdown. His last reception was for only two yards but a touchdown. See where we are getting at? His stats are dwindling and this week Jermichael Finley may be returning from his knee injury. If you are in need of a desperation play at least you know Havner has a shot at a touchdown. But remember, you are looking at very minimal yardage, so if no touchdown you get close to a goose egg.
Point Projection: 2 points

28. Marcedes Lewis (Jacksonville Jaguars) vs. Buffalo

Lewis’ 2009 season started off with a bang as we scored 12 fantasy football points in Week 2 and 13 fantasy points in Week 4 but the veteran out of UCLA has done nothing worth talking about since. He been held without a fantasy point in two of his last five games and has a total of just eight points during that span. If it weren’t for his 58 receiving yards in Week 10 Lewis would not be on this list because the Buffalo Bills defense has allowed just 56 receiving yards to the tight end position over the last two games.
Point Projection: 2 points

29. Joel Dreessen / James Casey (Houston Texans) vs. Tennessee

Joel Dreessen has been pretty unimpressive ever since Owen Daniels has gotten injured, yet he is an intriguing play just because you know what Matt Schaub can do and how much he loves throwing to the Tight End routes. Don’t expect much from Dreessen or back-up tight end James Casey, but if you need someone that could surprise this week, there is a possibility.
Point Projection: 2 points

30. Leonard Pope (Kansas City Chiefs) vs. Pittsburgh

The good thing going for Leonard Pope is that Larry Johnson is gone and now the Kansas City Chiefs have to rely on everyone else on the field to move the ball. The bad thing is that Dwayne Bowe has been suspended for four games so everyone will be focusing on stopping Chris Chambers, Lance Long and to a lesser extent Pope. It is going to be a painful game for all Chiefs involved. Let Pope and any other Chiefs tight end stay on the waiver wire.
