16. Ryan Grant (Green Bay Packers) vs. San Francisco
Coming off a 96-yard effort that included a touchdown in Week 9 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Ryan Grant had another productive day against the Dallas Cowboys, carrying the ball 19 times for 79 yards in the game. However, he did not find the end zone. Grant does not wow you with big numbers on a weekly basis, but he has been productive this season as he has 168 carries for 700 yards with four touchdowns through nine games. Grant has scored double digit fantasy points six times this season and has only scored less than nine points twice. He is a solid RB2 fantasy option this week against a good San Francisco defense.
Point Projection: 14 points
17. Brandon Jacobs (New York Giants) vs. Atlanta Falcons
Through nine games this season, Brandon Jacobs has yet to have a single 100-yard rushing game, but he has carried the ball 151 times for 617 yards with two touchdowns and is the No. 1 running back for the Giants. Coming off a bye week, he has a good match-up against a Falcons rush defense that has given up 1,173 yards and eight touchdowns this season. Jacobs will continue to split carries with Ahmad Bradshaw, but he will continue to be the starter in New York and should be in your starting lineup. Use him as a RB2 this week against Atlanta.
Point Projection: 13 points
18. Thomas Jones (New York Jets) @ New England
Thomas Jones had 22 carries for 77 yards and a touchdown in a Week 10 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. It wasn’t the game that many owners, who were hoping for a big game from him against the Jaguars who have a suspect rush defense this season, envisioned. He will look to bounce back this week against a Patriots rush defense that is allowing 110 rushing yards per game, but that has only allowed just three rushing touchdowns this season. Consider Jones a No. 2 fantasy running back this week against a New England team that he is averaging 64.7 rushing yards per game against, with one touchdown in six career meetings.
Point Projection: 13 points
19. Marion Barber (Dallas Cowboys) vs. Washington Redskins
Marion Barber had a season low five carries for 26 yards in the Cowboys loss to the Green Bay Packers last week. He has continued to frustrate fantasy owners this season as he has not gained more than 53 yards in a game since Week 2. He will look to bounce back with a good outing this week against a Redskins’ defense that is ranked No. 24 against the rush, allowing 125.7 rushing yards per game. Barber should be used as a No. 2 fantasy running back this week.
Point Projection: 13 points
20. Knowshon Moreno (Denver Broncos) vs. San Diego
In what was one of his better performances of his rookie year, Knowshon Moreno had 18 carries for 97 yards in a Week 10 loss to the Washington Redskins. He was the primary ball carrier for the Broncos as Correll Buckhalter had just two carries in the game. Head coach Josh McDaniels will not commit to Moreno as the team’s primary running back, but with a strong outing last week, things are looking promising moving forward for him. He should be used as a RB2 this week against the Chargers who are allowing 118.9 rushing yards per game and have given up seven rushing touchdowns this season.
Point Projection: 12 points
21. Tim Hightower (Arizona Cardinals) @ St. Louis
Tim Hightower had 10 carries for 37 yards in a Week 10 victory over the Seattle Seahawks. He, also, added five catches for 21 yards in the game, but he was outperformed by rookie Beanie Wells who had 16 carries for 85 yards and two touchdowns. It is a bit disturbing for fantasy owners to see Wells cutting into his touches, but Hightower has the better pass catching skills, which is helpful in the pass happy Cardinals offense. He should continue to receive 15-20 touches per game. Use Hightower as a low-end No. 2 running back or flex option this week against the St. Louis Rams.
Point Projection: 12 points
22. Chris “Beanie” Wells (Arizona Cardinals) @ St. Louis
As mentioned above, rookie, Beanie Wells, led the Cardinals in rushing in a Week 10 victory over the Seattle Seahawks with 16 carries for 85 yards and two touchdowns. It was the best game of his rookie season. Wells has been coming on of late as he has 271 yards on 51 carries with three touchdowns over his last four games. He is still officially the No. 2 running back in Arizona behind Tim Hightower, but he has been getting enough touches of late to be used as a viable fantasy option. Wells should be used as a low-end No. 2 running back or flex option this week against the St. Louis Rams, who allow more than 142 rushing yards per game and have given up 13 rushing touchdowns this season.
Point Projection: 10 points
23. Ahmad Bradshaw (New York Giants) vs. Atlanta Falcons
As the backup to Brandon Jacobs, Ahmad Bradshaw has 103 carries for 515 yards with four touchdowns in the Giants first nine games. He has been an excellent change of pace back to the power running of Jacobs. Bradshaw has been bothered with a nagging ankle/foot injury, but with New York coming off a bye, he had some additional time to rest his injury. Consider Bradshaw a low-end RB2 or flex option this week against a Falcons defense that is allowing over 130 rushing yards per game.
Point Projection: 10 points
24. Jamal Lewis (Cleveland Browns) @ Detroit
In a Week 10 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, Jamal Lewis was limited to 10 carries for 36 yards. He has rushed for more than 100 yards in a game just once this season, and he has not recorded a touchdown. A Week 11 match-up with the Detroit Lions could be just what the doctor ordered for Lewis. The Lions have been respectable against the run, allowing 114.6 rushing yards per game, but they have allowed nine rushing touchdowns in nine games. If there ever was a week to insert Lewis into your lineup it would be this week in which he can be used as a low-end RB2 or flex player.
Point Projection: 10 points
25. Jonathan Stewart (Carolina Panthers) vs. Miami
In a Week 10 victory over the Atlanta Falcons, Jonathan Stewart had 11 carries for 82 yards with two touchdowns. He now has 98 carries for 466 yards with six touchdowns, but he has been very sporadic this season as he has yet to post back-to-back games with double digit fantasy points. Stewart is the No. 2 running back on the Panthers behind DeAngelo Williams, but continues to get enough carries to be fantasy relevant; however, he is not consistent enough to be a fantasy starter on a weekly basis, meaning you should evaluate him each week based on the match-up. Consider him a RB3 or flex option this week against a Miami defense that has been top-ten against the run this season.
Point Projection: 9 points
26. Laurence Maroney (New England Patriots) vs. New York Jets
Laurence Maroney had his least productive game since taking over the starting running back role in New England as he had 13 carries for 31 yards with a touchdown. Sadly, Maroney also added a fumble to his totals while trying to get into the end zone. After the fumble the Patriots did use backup Kevin Faulk more in the game, but with 62 carries for 279 yards and four touchdowns over his last four games Maroney should remain the team’s starter. Use him as a No. 3 running back or flex player this week against the New York Jets, who rank No. 18 against the run this season.
Point Projection: 9 points
27. LeSean McCoy (Philadelphia Eagles) @ Chicago
With Brian Westbrook suffering a second concussion in a four week period, it looks as if rookie LeSean McCoy will be the Philadelphia Eagles starting running back for the foreseeable future. He has rushed for 353 yards on 86 carries with two touchdowns this season, while adding 23 receptions for 181 yards. McCoy is a dynamic back who has already had a 66-yard touchdown run and a 45-yard reception this season. He should be used as a RB3 or flex option this week, but this young speedster could really start coming into his own with extended playing time.
Point Projection: 9 points
28. Ladell Betts (Washington Redskins) @ Dallas Cowboys
Filling in for an injured Clinton Portis, Ladell Betts had 26 carries for 114 yards with one touchdown during the team’s victory over the Denver Broncos last week. It marks just the second time this season that a Redskins’ running back has gained more than 100-yards rushing in a game, and in the one and a half games, Betts has taken over for the injured Portis, he has 41 carries for 184 yards with two touchdowns. Head coach, Jim Zorn, has already stated that when healthy Portis will be Washington’s starting running back, but you better believe Betts has earned some additional carries. Although Portis is not officially ruled out for this week’s game against the Cowboys, Betts should see an increased role even if Portis is active. He should not be used as anything more than a flex option though as the Cowboys defense is ranked No. 10 in rushing yards allowed per game.
Point Projection: 9 points
29. Jason Snelling (Atlanta Falcons) @ New York Giants
With Michael Turner going down with a sprained ankle in Week 10, his backup Jason Snelling stepped in and had a good game. Snelling had 18 carries for 61 yards with a touchdown in the Falcons’ loss to the Carolina Panthers. He, also, added three catches for 32 yards. Turner is expected to miss at least one game (if not more) with what is being called a high ankle sprain and Snelling will take over the starting running back duties in Atlanta in Turner’s absence. Use him as a RB3 or flex option in a favorable match-up against a Giants defense that is allowing 106.4 rushing yards per game and has allowed 12 rushing touchdowns this season.
Point Projection: 9 points
30. Cadillac Williams (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) vs. New Orleans
In a Week 10 loss to the Miami Dolphins, Cadillac Williams had a team-high 14 carries for 52 yards and added a touchdown late in the game. He has 105 carries for 413 yards with four total touchdowns this season. He is the No. 1 running option in Tampa Bay, but due to their offensive deficiencies, he does not post solid fantasy points on a weekly basis. Use Williams as a RB3 or flex option this week against a New Orleans rush defense that has given up 12 rushing touchdowns through nine games this season.
Point Projection: 8 points
31. Reggie Bush (New Orleans Saints) @ Tampa Bay
In what was his most productive game of the season, Reggie Bush had six carries for 83 yards with a touchdown and added two receptions for 15 yards with another touchdown. It was only the second time this season that he has amassed more than eight fantasy points in a game. Bush has not been the dynamic back that we were used to seeing over the first three seasons of his career, but he did show flashes of brilliance in the Week 10 victory over St. Louis. Bush should still not be considered a weekly must-start at running back, but he could be used as a solid flex player this week against the Buccaneers.
Point Projection: 8 points
32. Marshawn Lynch (Buffalo Bills) @ Jacksonville
Marshawn Lynch had nine carries for 37 yards in a Week 10 loss to the Tennessee Titans. It was the second straight game that he was held below 10 carries, but it was also the second game in a row that the Bills found themselves is a big deficit early and were forced to pass to try and get back in the game. Even with his limited production over the past couple of outings, Lynch is still the Bills primary running back and has a decent match-up this week against the Jacksonville Jaguars who rank No. 22 against the run this season. Use Lynch as a RB3 or flex option in this match-up.
Point Projection: 8 points
33. Ryan Moats (Houston Texans) vs. Tennessee
To the dismay of Steve Slaton owners, Ryan Moats was the starting running back for the Houston Texans in Week 9 against the Indianapolis Colts. He had 16 carries for 38 yards with a fumble, but he did add a receiving touchdown which helped his cause. With 39 carries for 164 yards and four total touchdowns over his last two games, it appears that Moats will continue to be the Texans every down back, while Steve Slaton will be used more as a third down running back. Moats should be used as a No. 3 fantasy running back or flex option this Monday night against the Tennessee Titans.
Point Projection: 8 points
34. Justin Forsett (Seattle Seahawks) @ Minnesota
Taking over the running back duties for an injured Julius Jones, Justin Forsett rushed for a career-high 123 yards including an 11-yard touchdown run in the first quarter in a Week 10 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. With Jones suffering what has been diagnosed as a bruised lung, Forsett should be a hot waiver wire pickup this week. He is definitely worth adding to your team, especially if you already own Jones. Use Forsett as a low-end RB3 this week in a tough match-up against the Minnesota Vikings who allow less then 100 yards rushing per game and have given up just two rushing touchdowns this season.
Point Projection: 8 points
35. Steve Slaton (Houston Texans) vs. Tennessee
It appears that Steve Slaton has lost his starting running back job to Ryan Moats, but after losing five fumbles in eight games, who could really blame Texans head coach Gary Kubiak? In Houston’s Week 11 loss to the Indianapolis Colts, he had just six carries for 17 yards, but did manage a touchdown in a goal-line situation. Moving forward Slaton will be the team’s third down back used primarily on passing downs. He does have good hands out of the backfield which helps his value some, but he should not be thought of as anything more then a flex option at this time.
Point Projection: 7 points

mikey,
While I normally almost always go with a running back at the flex over a wide receiver since they usually get more touches, in this case I would lean towards Sims-Walker. We have Lynch projected to get 8 points and Sims-Walker to get 12 points.
Sure Jacksonville hasn’t been that good against the run, but Buffalo’s offense has not been good at all. Sims-Walker is Garrard’s go-to-guy and he has been more consistent then Lynch this season. He should be solid this week against a pretty good Bills’ pass defense and I feel he is the better option.
Good luck this week.
