16. David Garrard (Jacksonville Jaguars) vs. Buffalo
Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback David Garrard was quite impressive last week in throwing for 221 yards with one touchdown and no interception in a win on the road over the New York Jets. He also ran for a touchdown en route to a 17 point fantasy performance, his highest output since Week 4 of this season. He’ll face another tough test this week against the Buffalo Bills, who are ninth in passing yards allowed, second in passing touchdowns allowed and second in interceptions.
Point Projection: 12 points
17. Joe Flacco (Baltimore Ravens) vs. Indianapolis
After a hot start to the season, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco has been struggling of late. For the second straight week Flacco failed to throw for a touchdown pass or record over 200 passing yards. After scoring 30 or more points in five of their first seven games the Ravens’ offense has averaged just 11.5 points per game over the last two weeks and points won’t come easy against a Indianapolis Colts defense that allows a league low 15.8 points per game. Look for Flacco to break his streak without a touchdown pass in Week 11 but yet another mediocre showing is in store.
Point Projection: 12 points
18. Matt Hasselbeck (Seattle Seahawks) @ Minnesota
The yardage has been there for Seattle quarterback Matt Hasselbeck in the last three weeks despite dealing with a shoulder injury, but the large amounts of fantasy football points have not followed. Hasselbeck will need to cut down on his turnovers - he’s had four in the last two weeks - to have a QB1 type game against the Minnesota Vikings, and that’s something we just don’t see happening in this match-up. With the Seahawks likely to be trailing and needing to revert to the pass Hasselbeck should do enough to post a high amount of yardage but the turnovers could prove costly once again.
Point Projection: 11 points
19. Vince Young (Tennessee Titans) @ Houston
The addition of quarterback Vince Young to the starting lineup has led to three straight wins for the Titans. Young has played well but has not been asked to win the games with his arm, which has meant that although he’s had some solid fantasy football performances none of them have resulted in a big game. There’s no reason to think this week’s game against the Houston Texans will be any different as the Titans will likely sink or swim behind the legs of running back Chris Johnson.
Point Projection: 11 points
20. Alex Smith (San Francisco 49ers) @ Green Bay
Though San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith had played well in the prior three weeks leading up to Week 10, he laid an egg in the last week in a win over the Chicago Bears. Smith had just 118 yards with one interception and no touchdowns. Wins are all that matters in the NFL, but you don’t get points for that in fantasy football. Playing on the road against the Green Bay Packers, Smith should bounce back but the Packers did hold the Dallas Cowboys to just one score last week. We project him to hover around 200 passing yards to go along with a touchdown and a turnover but his ceiling isn’t much greater than this in Week 11.
Point Projection: 10 points
21. Marc Bulger (St. Louis Rams) vs. Arizona
Nobody expected St. Louis quarterback Marc Bulger to post his best fantasy football performance last week against the New Orleans Saints, but that’s exactly what he did as he had 298 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. In Week 11, the Rams take on an Arizona Cardinals defense that is just 13th in points allowed so don’t expect a repeat of Bulger’s last performance, but he should do enough to make it two straight weeks with double-digit fantasy football points. .
Point Projection: 10 points
22. Chad Henne (Miami Dolphins) @ Carolina **THURSDAY NIGHT GAME**
Four straight starts with single-digit fantasy football points for Miami Dolphins quarterback Chad Henne is about all you need to know when making your lineup decision at the quarterback position. The Dolphins rely on their running game and hope Henne manages the game well enough to win. Even with Ronnie Brown already ruled out of Thursday’s game you can’t expect Henne to do anything worth noting The potential is there for Henne, but he, and the offensive play calling in Miami, may not begin to realize it this season.
Point Projection: 9 points
23. Trent Edwards / Ryan Fitzpatrick (Buffalo Bills) @ Jacksonville
What a terrible return game for Buffalo Bills quarterback Trent Edwards. In Week 10, Edwards had a less than stellar performance as he threw for 185 yards with a touchdown and an interception as the Bills were blown out by the Tennessee Titans. In fact, by the end of the game head coach Dick Jauron had seen enough and he benched Edwards in favor of Ryan Fitzpatrick. Entering Week 11, Jauron has yet to name a starting quarterback but with no teams on bye you are shouldn’t be forced to start a Bills’ QB. Jacksonville’s defense has been less than average this season but until we see the Bills offense light up the scoreboard their QBs are going to remain near the bottom of these rankings.
Point Projection: 9 points
24. Matt Stafford (Detroit Lions) vs. Cleveland
From a fantasy football perspective Detroit Lions quarterback Matt Stafford had an OK game last week, yet it took him 51 pass attempts to do so. He could very well have a good game this week against the Cleveland Browns, who are 27th in the league in points allowed, but Stafford is still turnover prone. Plus, it’s tough to rely on a rookie quarterback in an offense that averages all of 15.9 points per game
Point Projection: 9 Points
25. Jason Campbell (Washington Redskins) @ Dallas
Now that Washington quarterback Jason Campbell has posted three consecutive double-digit fantasy football performances is he a guy you should consider picking up? Well, the answer is maybe, depending on if you are in a two quarterback league or not, but at least not for this week as the Redskins travel to the Lone Star state to take on the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys rank seventh in the NFL in points allowed and should have no problem putting pressure on Campbell, as the Redskins have allowed 31 sacks in nine games.
Point Projection: 8 points
26. Brady Quinn (Cleveland Browns) @ Detroit
The stats for Brady Quinn (13 of 31, 99 yards, two interceptions) in the Cleveland Browns loss to the Baltimore Ravens last week weren’t great by any means, but it wasn’t entirely his fault. The receivers were dropping passes, the running backs were running backwards and the offensive line did a poor job of identifying and picking up the blitz. This week should be a little better as the Browns face one of the league’s worst defenses in the Detroit Lions, but Cleveland is still one of the worst offenses in the league so you shouldn’t expect much from Quinn in Week 11.
Point Projection: 8 points
27. Jake Delhomme (Carolina Panthers) vs. Miami **THURSDAY NIGHT GAME**
With 195 yards and two touchdowns last week in a win over the Atlanta Falcons, Carolina quarterback Jake Delhomme had his best fantasy football performance of the season. Are you willing to gamble that he does it in back-to-back weeks? Probably not and neither are we.
Point Projection: 7 points
28. Matt Cassel (Kansas City Chiefs) vs. Pittsburgh
For as well as Kansas City quarterback Matt Cassel played two weeks ago he played terrible last week in a win over the Oakland Raiders as he had 216 yards with no touchdowns and three turnovers. This week he’ll be facing a much tougher defense in the Pittsburgh Steelers, so there’s no reason to expect any kind of turnaround from last week. In fact, the only way Cassel get’s his fantasy points this week is because the Steelers will control the game early and force the Chiefs to throw often.
Point Projection: 7 points
29. Kyle Orton / Chris Simms (Denver Broncos) vs. San Diego
Denver quarterback Kyle Orton left last week’s game with an ankle injury and is listed as questionable this week. If he does play you shouldn’t expect much against a hot San Diego Chargers team. If his backup, Chris Simms, gets the call at quarterback then you should expect even less. In relief duty last week Simms went 3-for-13 for 13 yards with no touchdowns and one interception. Talk about not getting the job done.
Point Projection: 6 points
30. Josh Freeman (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) vs. New Orleans
Tampa Bay quarterback Josh Freeman has been a boon to the team so far as he led the Buccaneers to one win and almost did the same last week against a tough Miami Dolphins team. However, rookie quarterbacks are vulnerable and that was seen last week as Freeman had one touchdown but added five turnovers. Playing against the New Orleans Saints, who are one of the best in the NFL at creating turnovers, will not be good for Freeman’s fantasy football value.
Point Projection: 6 points
31. Mark Sanchez (New York Jets) @ New England
In Week 2, New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez helped lead the Jets to a win over the New England Patriots as he had 163 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions. The Jets offense hasn’t gotten better since then, but the New England defense has. Even after getting torched for 300+ yards and four touchdowns passes by quarterback Peyton Manning in Week 10 the Patriots defense still allows just 194.6 passing yards per game. Sanchez is no Manning, or not even close, and he shouldn’t be anywhere near your starting lineup this week.
Point Projection: 5 points
32. JaMarcus Russell / Bruce Gradkowski (Oakland Raiders) vs. Cincinnati
After yet another poor performance out of JaMarcus Russell last week, Oakland coach Tom Cable said he wasn’t sure who would be the starter for the Raiders this week. It appears backup Bruce Gradkowski would get the call if Russell is moved to the bench, but in limited play last week in a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, Gradkowski had 46 yards with two interceptions to go along with no touchdowns. Neither of these guys should even be close to your radar, let alone your team.
